Why Michael Vick Was Treated Unfairly
A young African American quarterback in the prime of his young career. Michael Vick had just broke the record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a season, and was on the brink of leading the Falcons to the playoffs once again. Then, as viewers tuned in to Sportscenter, Vick was indited on dog fighting charges.
When Micheal Vick first indited, he denied having anything to do with the dogs. He claimed that his cousins and other family members where using the house, and that he was never there. To this day I still believe Vick. This is a multi-million dollar athlete. Where would he find the time to organize and fight these dogs. He spent most of his time with the Falcons organization. Most of the time a person say he had time in the off season. In the Nation Football League, there is no off season. At most you will get two weeks off before training camp, and you spend that time resting.

People also say that he pleaded guilty, so that means that he was guilty. That is not true. He most likely pleaded guilty so he can reduce his time. If he would have went to trial, it would have carried on throughout the season, and most likely would have lead to him receiving more than his twenty three month sentence.
So you might say why did the court system go after Vick if he is Innocent. The main reason is because they wanted to make an example out of a pro athlete who was a successful African American player who had finally made it to the top. There can be over a hundred dog fighting rings in one urban part of a city that never get caught. Even if they were the master mind behind the whole thing, they never get the time Vick received. They most likely would have received probation. The law saw that pro athletes were getting in trouble, and used Vick as an example to show they still had control.
Then there is the PAC-Man Jones and the Stallworth situation. How are you going to allow men who have been involved in the hurting of other human beings ( one is dead, and the other is paralysed) get off so easy. Stallworth only received 30 days and Pacman received none, but you let a man who most likely wasn't even involved in a dog fighting ring receive almost 2 years in jail.
So now where back to square one, with Michael Vick looking for a team. Michael Vick has to start all over even though he should not have to.
