Xavi Speaks out

After news of the transfer ban broke, several players came out in defense of the club. The latest La Masia graduate to voice his opinion is none other than Xavi.

The Catalan midfielder had a lot to say, per Goal.com:

It's disproportionate and unjust. We'll try to oppose it. La Masia does a more than an adequate job, it's part of our philosophy. Barca spends many years working properly with youngsters, we look after them.

We're not isolated from what happens, but we try to stay calm in the dressing room. What happens outside helps to unite us.

"

It seems as though Xavi is taking the ban personally and is in full defense of the youth system that he once graduated from.

As of now, things are tense around the club. However, according to the World Cup winner, the players remain united and strong. 

Barcelona Will Still Sign Players This Summer

Barcelona vice president Manel Arroyo remains extremely confident that the club will still be able to make signings this summer.

In a press conference reported on by the Daily Mail, Arroyo had the following to say:

We're working on an appeal that will give us an interim suspension of the transfer ban.

We want to have a normal summer. We're convinced that we will be able to sign new players.

It's a significant ban and our legal team is working so that we'll be able to sign new players this summer.

We'll study the formats in which youth football currently works in order to improve the process.

We constantly self-analyse. If there are any processes that take us to the brink of breaking any rule, we'll revise it. There's an ongoing internal investigation.

"

Fans of the Catalan club can take some form of solace from the words of the club's VP. However, nothing will be set in stone until the the appeal has been officially charged.

As of now, doubts and questions still remain for the Catalan giants. 

Keylor Navas In, Jose Pinto out

As reported by SkySports.com, Barcelona remain fully entrentched in a search for new goalkeepers. With Victor Valdes set to leave at the end of the season and Jose Pinto up in age, the club will likely have to sign two new keepers.

According to the report, Barcelona's increasing interest in Levante keeper Keylor Navas is heavily picking up. After a wonderful season the Catalans are taking notice, but Navas is remaining quiet about the rumors.

"At the moment I have nothing to say about the thing with Barcelona. My priority is Levante and I am enjoying it here. Any player would like to be playing for a big club, but I am wanted here and at Levante I am playing regularly."

With the possibility of bringing in Navas, it unlikely that Jose Pinto will remain in Barcelona past the current season. At this point, the only way the 38-year-old remains in Catalonia is if the transfer ban does not allow Barcelona to sign any players this summer.
