Cotto Vs. Pacquiao Fireworks Are Probable
On November 14, 2009 boxing fans around the world might be able to witness one of the greatest fights of our time. Bob Arum of Top Rank the promoter of both Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto has selected the date and chose the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas as the Venue. With the recent postponement of the Mayweather Vs. Marquez fight, Cotto Vs. Pacquiao could not be any more official since they cannot reschedule until September at the earliest. Both fighters are very willing to face each other, and I wouldn't blame them. They are two of the best fighters in the world that can draw a huge fan base that not only will have a guarantee to be entertaining but both fighters will be able to see a huge payday. The only minor negotiations that are holding back the fight at this point is determining a catch weight, at this point Freddie Roach is not willing to have Pacquiao fight Cotto at 147lbs. The catch weight is said to be between 142-144 lbs but could be subject to change.
Now regarding Pacman Vs Cotto, I have followed these two boxers throughout their entire careers and I could never imagine seeing the two going toe to toe. I will admit I am a die-hard Cotto fan and also a die-hard Pacquiao fan. To see these two knockout artist collide would be very difficult for me to watch. However, it would be very hard for me not to watch. I would then be able to watch the fight without bias and really not know who to root for because I love both of these boxers. I must say this will be a fight for the fans, more than MAYWEATHER vs. PACMAN would have been. Cotto vs. Pacquiao would be a modern day a Hagler VS. Hearns the 1985 Middleweight slugfest that ended in a third round TKO which to many fight fans is a classic example of what boxing "used to be". Manny and Miguel can bring this to the ring both men possess incredible speed ,power, and can brawl as well. They also have the ability to flip the switch and become technical boxers throughout the fight. The fight would consist of non stop action power punches, tremendous counters, and several knockdowns. Determining the winner will come down to iron will and who has the strongest chin.Cotto has prooven to have a strong chin at welterweight, we haven't seen Manny get hit often because of his speed at welterweight, so i think this fight will be full of surprises. There is a guarantee that both fighters will get hurt because of their heavy hands but the winner to me is indeterminable at this point. MAKING THIS FIGHT ONE OF THE BEST OF OUR TIME IF IT OCCURS!
To close with regards to Mayweather and why a fight with Cotto for Pacquiao on Novemeber 14th is more probable than a showdown with Mayweather I'd like to quote Bob Arum, “Mayweather won’t fight anybody who can beat him,” Arum said, quickly dismissing a Cotto match up. “Psychologically, he cannot take a defeat.” AND BOB COULDN'T SAY IT ANY BETTER! This also applies to Floyd fighting Manny Pacquiao who is also under the promotion of Bob Arum.
