Real Madrid are one of the most famous clubs in world sport; their record nine Champions League wins to add to their 32 Spanish league titles makes them the most successful team at home and on the continent.

Naturally, success attracts and therefore their incredible achievements have created a fan base far beyond the Spanish capital.

Often referred to as the "Galacticos" due to their tendency to buy the biggest stars in the game, Madrid have become the center of attention for A-list fans.

Undeniably, some of them just turn up for the odd promotional event, kick a ball around and take a picture with Cristiano Ronaldo. However, there are many whose affection is much deeper than that.

Here is Bleacher Report’s top 20 famous Madridistas...

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise is a world famous Hollywood actor best known for his roles in Mission Impossible and The Last Samurai but is also a Merengue thanks to an old friend of his. Cruise was invited by David Beckham to one of the most crucial matches in Real Madrid’s recent history.

Los Blancos were on the verge of winning the league title and just needed to beat lowly Real Mallorca. Despite being 0-1 down for a large part of the game, Beckham and his buddies ensured that Cruise would witness an epic comeback on his first visit to the Santiago Bernabeu as they went on to win 3-1.

Viggo Mortensen

    Axel Schmidt

Viggo Mortensen is a poet, musician, photographer and painter. He is also a decent actor, known for his roles in The Lord of the Rings and A History of Violence.

Whatever is left of his free time is dedicated to Real Madrid, of whom Mortensen is an avid fan. The 52-year-old is not just a celebrity who makes a PR visit and takes selfies with some of the players.

Mortensen is actually rather outspoken regarding his favourite team and even went on a rant about ex-manager Jose Mourinho, criticizing the Portuguese boss’ tactics live on Argentine radio.

Antonio Banderas

The award-winning film actor is a huge Real Madrid fan though he does not hide being a staunch Malaga fan, too.

Banderas is an honorary member of the club and once organized a charity dinner and auction where signed shirts of Madrid stars were sold to raise money for the less fortunate. Along with the €250 entry ticket, Banderas was able to raise €20,000 with shirts donated by the likes of Xabi Alonso and Kaka.

Magnus Carlsen

The recently crowned Chess World Champion is a Real Madrid fan and makes no secret about it. Magnus Carlsen is a member of the Norwegian Real supporters' group and got to meet president Florentino Perez as well as the rest of the team last year.

The 23-year-old even got to go on the pitch before the La Liga match against Real Valladolid where he shook hands with Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso before taking a mock kick-off.

King Abdullah II

One of the most unlikely supporters of the Spanish giants is the King of Jordan, Abdullah II.

The King welcomed the club’s president Florentino Perez on a visit to Jordan in 2010 where they discussed great Madrid sides of times gone by.

I am not too sure he gets to attend many games these days, what with his running of a country and all.

Zac Efron

The 26-year-old singer and actor is a huge fan of Los Blancos and managed to pay a visit to a training session in 2012. Efron travelled to the Spanish capital for the promotion of Dr. Seuss' The Lorax where he got to meet the likes of Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo.

He admitted that he was not the most loyal fan but would try to attend a match in the future. Perhaps he is awaiting a VIP invitation as the actor has not been spotted at the Bernabeu since.

Jennifer Lopez

    Dan Harr

Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez has sold over 75 million records worldwide and has appeared in movies like Maid in Manhattan.

The Puerto Rican star has a soft spot for Real Madrid and visited the team last summer in Los Angeles during their pre-season friendly against Everton. J-Lo had snaps taken with the likes of Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo, though not for the first time, having attended Madrid matches in the past.

Alberto Contador

Alberto Contador is the Real Madrid of Spanish cycling so, by default, he almost had to be a fan. The winner of the 2007 Tour de France has been greeted by the Bernabeu faithful and has spoken with Florentino Perez about the possibility of opening a cycling branch of the club.

To which El Presidente responded: "I don't want to lie to you. We could go into the area, but we're not going to do it because it's very expensive.”

I think he may be lying…

Robbie Williams

    John Marshall

The former Take That star is a known avid supporter of his local club Port Vale but it has not stopped him from having a soft spot for the Spanish giants.

Still, Williams is known to be buddies with Cristiano Ronaldo and claimed last year to hold something in common with the Portuguese star, stating:

I don't think Cristiano Ronaldo plays football every week just because he's making 250,000 pounds per week. I think he would still run around the pitch, doing exactly what he does now, if he was earning only 250 pounds. That's the same philosophy I have, but with music of course.

Penelope Cruz

The world-renowned actress, who has starred in movies like Blow and Open Your Eyes is a native of the Madrid area and a huge Real Madrid fan, as is her ex-husband Antonio Banderas.

As of last year, Penelope Cruz has gotten a lot closer to Madrid’s stars, quite literally. The two most expensive players in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, live on La Finca Estate near the famous actress.

Sergio Garcia

Not to be confused with the former Barcelona player, Sergio Garcia is one of the best professional golfers to have graced the game.

He makes his affection towards the club on the homepage of his website. And if you did not catch it there you can spot the Real Madrid emblem on the head covers of his golf clubs.

His love of the club has inspired him to become president/player at CF Borriol in the fourth tier of Spanish football.

Julio Iglesias

Julio Jose Iglesias de la Cueva, otherwise known as Julio Iglesias, is a Spanish singer/songwriter and one of Sony Record’s top selling artists of all-time.

Iglesias had a brief spell as a goalkeeper with the club he loves but a serious car accident ended his dreams of ever wearing the coveted No. 1 jersey at the Bernabeu.

Enrique Iglesias

Like father like son. Whether by choice or hereditary, Enrique Iglesias is a self-confessed Madridista. Enrique was born in the Spanish capital and, despite moving to the United States at the age of 11, carried on supporting his boyhood club.

He has confessed that Lionel Messi is the best player in the world but quickly swept over his statement by admitting his love for Iker Casillas and Xabi Alonso. Enrique also has a photo with the Champions League trophy from the club’s museum.

One Direction

Does this count as five fans? Anyway. The English band are apparently big fans of Los Blancos, after turning up to a training session at the Santiago Bernabeu dressed in club jerseys.

It was probably a strange sensation for them to be the ones asking for photos of their idols rather than the other way around. Nevertheless, the group who have sold millions of copies worldwide went on to take part in a mini-training session though it is fair to say they did not impress enough to earn a contract.

Russell Crowe

Russell Crowe starred in Gladiator where he won best actor award at the Oscars and the New Zealand-born actor is in the new adaptation of Noah.

Crowe visited Real’s training camp in 2010 where got to speak with Cristiano Ronaldo, Guti and Raul, among others, while promoting his movie Robin Hood in the Spanish capital.

Placido Domingo

    Denis Doyle/Getty Images

Placido Domingo is a world-renowned Spanish artist and conductor, who has played at some of the largest theatres on the planet but not the Santiago Bernabeu, of course.

Domingo’s father was half Catalan and half Aragonese, while his mother was a Basque so seemingly, not wanting to cause any Barcelona/Athletic Bilbao debates, he opted for Real Madrid.

So much is his passion for Los Merengues that in 2002, he wrote the centenary hymn of the club, which was performed live at the famous stadium during celebrations of the club’s 100 years anniversary.

Fernando Alonso

17 of 20

    Fernando Alonso

It is very common in Spain for somebody to support two clubs, that of their local town or village and one of La Liga’s big sides. Fernando Alonso certainly falls into that category, with the Asturian being a loyal fan of lowly Real Oviedo, while being a religious Madridista at the same time.

The two-time Formula One World Champion when speaking about what it was like driving for McLaren compared it to the feeling of playing for Real Madrid.

“If I was a footballer, then I would like to play for Real Madrid, the team I support and love. Driving for McLaren is like playing for Real Madrid," said the Ferrari driver.

Shakira has been pictured various times around the Bernabeu with the club’s jersey as well as having snaps with the likes of Iker Casillas, Zinedine Zidane and Sergio Ramos.

However, it seems that she might have changed allegiances since her relationship with Gerard Pique has gotten serious. She attended the Copa del Rey final in 2012 between Barça and Madrid where she was seen consoling her partner after his side’s loss.

The club has banned all Shakira songs from being played on the loud speakers at the Bernabeu since her relationship with the Barca defender, which may be a sign that her Real Madrid fling is over.

Usain Bolt

It cannot be said that Usain Bolt is exactly the most loyal Real Madrid fan, having been seen in a number of opposing team’s colors, but he is a fan nonetheless.

The world’s fastest man is good friends with Cristiano Ronaldo and has walked out on the Bernabeu turf at the start of a match. He once claimed he could play professional football for Manchester United, which may be possible these days. As for Madrid, since the arrival of Gareth Bale, I think they are decently covered in the fast-winger department.

Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal is one of the best tennis players in the world and has won just about every trophy imaginable, very much like his beloved Real Madrid.

His uncle, Miguel Angel Nadal, was a defender for arch-rivals FC Barcelona and there is even a photo of young Rafa with him on the Camp Nou pitch dressed in Blaugrana.

However, the tennis star grew out of his Barca faze and switched allegiances to their bitter rivals, who he has followed avidly ever since.
