GoucheJun 16, 2009

Hockey fans from around the world received some great news on the weekend when two-time Stanley Cup winner Bill Guerin made the announcement that he has absolutely no plans to retire.

This 16-year veteran showed this spring that age has yet to slow him down. He registered 15 points and posted an impressive +8 in Pittsburgh`s successful run for the Stanley Cup.

“Yeah, I’m going to keep playing,” Guerin, who is a 400 goal scorer, said. “It’d be a great way to go out, but maybe I can do it in a couple years. I feel like I’ve got a lot of gas left in the tank. I feel good physically and mentally and I still love to play, so I’m going to keep playing.”

This two-time Stanley Cup winner was dealt from the New York Islanders to the Penguins at the trade deadline, and right away showed that he was an impact player. In 17 regular season games with Pittsburgh, he scored an impressive five goals and registered seven assists.

This summer Guerin, who had a total of 48 points on the season, becomes an unrestricted free agent and should attract plenty of suitors from around the league.
