In a shocking development, the Los Angeles Clippers announced today that they will be selecting Tim Tebow with their selection in the NBA Draft.
"Let's face it; we just cannot be trusted with this pick," said GM Mike Dunleavy. "The last time this organization had the top pick, we selected Michael Olowokandi. Our draft history has been dreadful, and we want to just draft a high character person."
Tebow is known as a high character person, as he has done missionary work in the Philippines, and has helped home schooled students play for their local high school teams.
"We haven't drafted a quality basketball player with this pick in quite awhile," said Owner Donald Sterling. "I fully support GM Dunleavy's decision to select Tebow to make him our team motivator."
Tebow motivated his team after a 2008 loss to Ole Miss, after which he told fans that "You will never see any player in the entire country play as hard as I will play the rest of the season."
When asked if that speech played into Dunleavy's decision, Dunleavy had no comment.
"We wish Blake Griffin the best of luck. However, we simply do not want to ruin that young man's career by bringing him here. We're happy with Tebow on this team, and that's our selection," said Sterling.
The Memphis Grizzles are now unofficially on the clock.
