The World Famous LayupDrill Rumor Mill

Sorry for the late edition of the Rumor Mill today, but I have a few exclusives to drop for you to make up for it. The first news bit was in my in-box earlier this afternoon, regarding Grant Hill.

There are rumors floating that the veteran swingman could be drawing interest by both teams in this years NBA Finals, the Lakers and Magic.

Los Angeles could use Hill as an insurance policy in case either Trevor Ariza or Lamar Odom wind up signing elsewhere. Odom is the highest paid backup in the league, and is very valuable to the Lakers chances at a repeat, however he will certainly have to take a paycut to remain with the Lakers.

The Magic, meanwhile, may need a replacement if Hedo Turkoglu decides to bolt town via free agency. The Magic’s warm weather, excellent facilities, and young core of Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson, and Rashard Lewis should be able to attract free agents this summer.

In other news, The Cavs aren’t the only team interested in obtaining the services of Shaq. The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Dallas Mavericks may be able to offer a more attractive trade package for O’Neal.

The Oklahoman reports that the Thunder may be interested in selecting Ricky Rubio in the upcoming NBA Draft, only to trade him to the highest bidder on draft night. There have been a number of playoff contenders that are interested in the Spaniard, however a deal may not be done prior to the draft.
