Trump Gives Doral Resort New Look
Donald Trump is part of the way through a multimillion dollar renovation of Trump Doral. He has created a new exterior on the back of the clubhouse, renovated the TPC Blue Monster at Doral, renovated villas and named them for well-known players, changed the interior of the resort and, in general, upgraded everything.
While some criticize The Donald for wanting to make a splash, in this case, Trump was just what the resort doctor ordered. His changes are all positive, even though everything is not 100 percent completed.
Just give him another year!
Those familiar with the old Doral may not even recognize some parts of it. Here are some of the most dramatic changes.
Trump Doral Has More Water
1 of 12
Water, water, water, water. There’s no danger of anything catching fire at Trump Doral. He has added more water to the course in many locations, including this vista to the right of the par-five 12th.
Trees Obscure Condos

What happens when you try to steal a view of a Trump property and you aren't part of it? Landscaping. Copious landscaping.
Entire new palms were added all along the par-five 12th hole. The buildings were put up by a previous owner and, because they are not part of what Trump owns, they lost their views.
The 13th Hole Emerges as Strong Par 3
3 of 12
No. 13, the impossibly long par-three, now has a slightly elevated green. Whether it will be easier or harder to hit will be determined this week. Hopefully the dead spot in front of the old green is gone.
The 14th Green Is Visible from the 15th Green
4 of 12
The 14th and 15th holes, though in the same locations, are practically unrecognizable compared to the previous course. From behind the 15th green, you can see the 14th green. Fourteen tee is moved back and to the left of the 13th green.
Construction on Other Trump Doral Courses

While the tournament continues, other courses at Trump Doral are undergoing renovation. Construction is visible to the right of the 16th hole.
Trump Copter

The Trump helicopter landing pad sits to the left of the water on 10 and to the golfers' left of eight and nine. It’s reminiscent of the days when Greg Norman used to commute to the tournament from Hobe Sound the same way.
The Last Hole of the Blue Monster
7 of 12
There’s a little mound behind the 18th so you can actually stand behind golfers and see their tee shots, if you have Superman vision that is. It’s a LONG way to the fairway.
New Version of the 18th Is Much the Same

While the 18th fairway seems to be narrower from the tee than it was, there is plenty of room in the wide fairway to land a drive. The fountain, which used to spray the 18th water hazard, has been moved away, closer to the helipad.
New Clubhouse
9 of 12
New Italian-style clubhouse facade has numerous outdoor patios and balconies that open up to a view of the practice putting green. You can have lunch or go to the 19th hole and watch golfers.
Women Are King .. Errr Queen... at Trump Doral
10 of 12
While golf has always been for men, The Donald knows a few things about women. The Doral ladies golf shop is bigger than many departments in Macy’s. It is stocked with current styles and colors, and there’s even a golf shoe salon.
Champagne Wishes
11 of 12
Forget the beer, man. Trump Doral is all about higher-end experiences. Well, okay, there were people on the golf course carrying a Bud or two, but not many golf tournaments have a champagne tent.
Need a Vroooom?

Orange County Choppers in New York presented this custom motorcycle to the Trump family. It is currently displayed next to a main floor dining room/cocktail lounge that was formerly a cocktail lounge, then a disco and then a gift shop.
