Kevin Pietersen Jokes That He's Waiting for an England Phone Call for World T20
Kevin Pietersen may be out of the England team, but that hasn't stopped him joking about a recall.
The former England international was contacted by a fan when it was announced that in-form batsman Joe Root was a major doubt for the World Twenty20 after breaking his thumb—and sure enough, Kevin answered:
"@TheCricketGeek haha! It would be a private jet if all my followers did it! So - yes I would! Haha

That exchange clearly got KP thinking, and then he spent the rest of the evening publicly worrying about making sure his phone was on so he wouldn't miss a call from the selectors:
"Phone is on charge..would hate to miss a phone call this evening seen as I don't have a voicemail!
— Kevin Pietersen (@KP24) March 6, 2014"
"Phone just rang and it was a private number(excited)...answered it and it was my mum! She said - 'I'd pick you, darling'.. Grrrrr!
— Kevin Pietersen (@KP24) March 6, 2014"
"Phone still on charge...
— Kevin Pietersen (@KP24) March 6, 2014"
"Will keep the phone on charge and ringer on overnight... Night x
— Kevin Pietersen (@KP24) March 6, 2014"
No news of a phone call just yet, but then again, it doesn't sound as if Pietersen is really expecting one.
There are some who'll see the exchange as a bit of fun, but others will feel it actually points to just the sort of behaviour that might not have played well in the England dressing room:
"@DanHawkins With every tweet by @KP24 the ECB looks wiser & wiser.....he's a weapoms grade stirrer. No class at all.....
