The 30 Biggest Celebrity Sports Fans

0 of 30

    Elaine Thompson/Associated Press

As much as you or I admit to loving our favorite teams, there are some celebrities out there who might just be even bigger fans than any of us.

Of course, they often get hooked up with front row seats and all-access passes, where they can talk it up with their favorite athletes—a perk we usually don't receive—but that doesn't take away from their passion.

And since we've seen a number of diehards like Jack Nicholson at L.A. Lakers games for a number of years, I'm now going to give you a list of some other big-time celebrity sports fans.

Who knows, you might learn a thing or two on how to be a fanatic from these stars.

Mark Wahlberg

    Favorite Teams: Everything Boston

Has anyone else realized that Mark Wahlberg often makes some reference to the city of Boston in a lot of his movies?

Yeah, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

That's because he's just about as diehard a Boston sports fan as one can be, often seen rooting for his Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics.

Jessie James

    Doug Pensinger/Getty Images

    Favorite Team: Denver Broncos

Thanks to her husband—wide receiver Eric Decker—singer Jessie James has learned to don the navy and orange of the Denver Broncos.

And if you're like me, you're probably extremely happy she did, because she's quite the sight, whether she's singing the national anthem or just nervously watching her main man out there on the gridiron.

Hugh Grant

3 of 30

    Phil Cole/Getty Images

    Favorite Team: Fulham F.C.

Hugh Grant might get himself in trouble for continuously making some interesting choices, but rooting for his favorite soccer team, Fulham F.C., is not one of them.

Depending on his schedule, Hugh can often be found sitting in the Craven Cottage stands with other supporters of The Cottagers.

Grant even discussed a lifetime of heartbreak a couple years back due to the club not winning a major title since he's been around.

Will Smith

    Jesse D. Garrabrant/Getty Images

    Favorite Teams: Philadelphia 76ers

"In West Philadelphia, born and raised…"who's singing it with me?

Although he's one of the most successful actors Hollywood has ever seen, Will Smith keeps things real, as he supports his hometown Philadelphia sports teams.

Hell, the guy is extra passionate about the NBA's Sixers, as he's one of the team's owners.

Jessica Alba

5 of 30

    Andrew D. Bernstein/Getty Images

    Favorite Team: Golden State Warriors

With her husband Cash Warren being good friends with former Golden State Warriors guard Baron Davis, actress Jessica Alba is often seen getting amped with the crowd in Oracle Arena on a regular basis.

Thankfully for all of us sitting at home, the camera really makes it a point to find her.

Jimmy Buffett

6 of 30

    Noah Graham/Getty Images

    Favorite Team: Miami Heat

How passionate is Jimmy Buffett about his Miami Heat?

So much so that the usually mellow singer actually got kicked out of a game back in 2001 for yelling at an official.

Embodying everything about South Beach, Buffett has loved wearing his Maui Jim button downs and slip-on shoes to Heat games even before the Big Three joined forces and started winning titles.

Jerry Seinfeld

7 of 30

    Jim McIsaac/Getty Images

    Favorite Team: New York Mets

What's the deal with the New York Mets?

I'd imagine that's a question that comedian Jerry Seinfeld has asked himself on a number of occasions.

With the team's last World Series title coming in 1986, Seinfeld can try his best to use humor to help forget about the almost 30 years without a ring, but it doesn't help the team get any better.

Still, he's there doing what he can to show his support—even if that means acting as a commentator.

Ashley Judd

8 of 30

    Andy Lyons/Getty Images

Favorite Team: University of Kentucky basketball

As a University of Kentucky grad, I can tell you just how much actress Ashley Judd means to the basketball program.

Not to age her—that'd be a sin in the Bluegrass—but Ashley is like a mom to the team each year, often seen as the No. 1 fan in the stands, yelling her lungs out and pouring out passion like few would think someone that famous would.

As a side note, I'd be remiss for not mentioning that my good friend Will Faulkner got kissed by the star during a UK game during our freshman year of college, understandably making it his Facebook profile picture for a very long time.

Snoop Dogg

9 of 30

    Paul A. Hebert/Associated Press

    Favorite Teams: Pretty much everyone.

I'm not really sure who Snoop Dogg—or Snoop Lion?—cheers for these days, but I do know that he's one helluva sports fan.

With an affinity for USC football, the Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh Penguins and anyone else whose jersey he decides he wants to wear, Snoop has been one of the cooler dudes in rap for over two decades, so it's always dope to see him cheering for your favorite squad.

Carrie Underwood

10 of 30

    Frederick Breedon/Getty Images

    Favorite Team: Nashville Predators

One of my all-time crushes, country singer Carrie Underwood didn't just marry into being a Nashville Predators fan after saying "I do" to Preds player Mike Fisher.

As someone who has lived in the in city for the past decade, Carrie is regularly seen up in a box, nervously watching the action on the ice—which, admittedly, is a little distracting for us guys who are more focused on her than the game.

Drew Carey

11 of 30

    Ted S. Warren/Associated Press

Favorite Teams: Cleveland Indians and Seattle Sounders

It's my goal to one day become the biggest sports fan from the city of Cleveland. But for now, that title arguably goes to Price is Right host Drew Carey.

On top of sweating it out and cursing the TV like I do every time a Browns, Indians or Cavs game is on, Carey is a staple at Seattle Sounders games as well, as he is one of the owners of the MLS club.

Vince Vaughn

12 of 30

    Tasos Katopodis/Getty Images

    Favorite Teams: Everything Chicago

Actor Vince Vaughn may be funny in nearly every role he plays in a movie, but when it comes to his Chicago sports teams, he takes things extremely seriously.

Whether it's traveling to a different city to be the best fan in the land for his Chicago Blackhawks or showing up at Wrigley to catch a Cubs game, Vaughn doesn't sell himself short when cheering on his teams.

Alyssa Milano

13 of 30

    Casey Rodgers/Associated Press

    Favorite Team: Los Angeles Dodgers

Sure, actress Alyssa Milano has dated a variety of athletes in her day—specifically baseball players—but that's not the only reason she's on this list.

As someone who can be seen donning her Dodger blue at a number of games throughout the season, Milano even helps by writing a blog each season, as well as designing different clothes specifically made for women.

Matthew McConaughey

14 of 30

    Ross D. Franklin/Associated Press

Favorite Team: University of Texas football

The newly crowned Best Actor for his role in Dallas Buyer's Club, Matthew McConaughey is a regular on the sidelines of his Texas Longhorns during football season, even getting to see the team win a national title a few years ago from their bench.

When it comes to rooting for his beloved Longhorns, things are always, "alright, alright, alright," for McConaughey.

15 of 30

    Mike Ehrmann/Getty Images

    Favorite Team: Miami Heat

Rihanna is one of the most gorgeous ladies on the planet, so I don't care that she jumps from team to team seemingly every other week. All that matters to me is that she's in the stands cheering and looking about as sexy as possible.

She seems to claim the Miami Heat as her No. 1 club—which brings her down a bit for being such a bandwagoner—but how can anyone argue with the girl straight killin' it in that fire-red lipstick to match the team's colors?

    Oh, right, they can't.

Denzel Washington

16 of 30

    Andrew D. Bernstein/Getty Images

Favorite Teams: Los Angeles Lakers and New York Yankees

One of the finest actors ever, Denzel Washington might be just as famous for regularly showing up at L.A. Lakers games, normally wearing his all-black New York Yankees hat at the same time.

Quite the baller himself back in the day, Denzel is probably just wondering if he'll get a chance to give some tips to the guys who do it for a living.

Kate Upton

17 of 30

    John Raoux/Associated Press

Favorite Teams: New York Jets and Detroit Tigers

Over the past few years, there might not be anyone who has blown up as much as Kate Upton, going from a fairly unknown model to one who does things that drives the guys wild.

So whether it's rooting on the New York Jets—for whom her sister used to work—or for her rumored boyfriend Justin Verlander's Detroit Tigers, Kate is always looking hot in the stands.

And us guys are appreciative of that.

Lil' Wayne

18 of 30

    Noah Graham/Getty Images

    Favorite Team: Los Angeles Lakers

Whether it's sitting at a sporting event—typically a L.A. Lakers game—or talking about sports through a blog or as a guest on a TV show, rapper Lil' Wayne has proved to be both passionate and knowledgeable.

Sure, Weezy has had a few run-ins with teams and the NBA over some alleged incidents, but that just proves that he's someone who actually cares about sports.

This dude is someone I'd want to sit by during a game, just to ham it up with and see who actually knows more about sports.

Justin Bieber

19 of 30

    Issac Baldizon/Getty Images

    Favorite Teams: Whoever's winning.

With apologies to everyone, I just had to add Justin Bieber.

Although he has gotten in some serious trouble over the past year, everyone's least favorite Canadian has still managed to show up at a variety of sporting events.

OK, so he's just about the most obnoxious, bandwagon fan there is, but that doesn't mean I should totally crap on him, right?

Bill Murray

20 of 30

    Charles Rex Arbogast/Associated Press

Favorite Teams: Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears

Actor Bill Murray might just be the coolest star on this entire list.

A legendary actor, he's known for a variety of roles from films like the Ghostbusters series, Caddyshack and nearly any Wes Anderson flick.

But it's his passion about sports that might even reign supreme over his acting skills, as Murray is a staple at Chicago sporting events each year, even getting the nod to help former Cubs announcer Harry Caray open up the first night game ever played in Wrigley over 30 years ago.

Paulina Gretzky

21 of 30

    MARCO GARCIA/Associated Press

    Favorite Athlete: Dustin Johnson

For all those who are wiping drool right now, don't worry, it's normal.

One of the all-around sexiest ladies in sports right now, Paulina Gretzky may have grown up watching her dad Wayne Gretzky tear it up on the ice, but she can be seen cheering on her fiance these days: golfer Dustin Johnson.

I'm not sure if Johnson has ever actually had a hole-in-one before, but I'd say he shot an ace by landing this bombshell.

22 of 30

    Ron Turenne/Getty Images

    Favorite Team: Toronto Raptors

Most people know that rapper Drake is from Toronto, so naturally, he is a major fan of his Toronto Raptors.

    How much so?

Enough that the team actually rewarded their No. 1 fan with a "Drake Night" a few weeks ago, allowing him to announce the team's starting lineup.

He has also been front and center during the past few NBA All-Star Games, even being used for a Terrence Ross slam during this year's dunk contest.

Kevin Hart

23 of 30

    Ron Hoskins/Getty Images

    Favorite Team: Numerous teams

Much like Drake, comedic actor Kevin Hart has been a staple at the NBA's midseason festivities for the past few years.

And although Hart may be lacking height, he still goes out on the court to participate in the celebrity basketball game, even taking home the MVP award for the last three years—though he refused to accept it this season.

Even when he's not cheering his favorite teams on, Hart is around sports in some way, as he has landed some athlete cameos in his films.

Maria Menounos

24 of 30

    Winslow Townson/Associated Press

    Favorite Team: Boston Celtics

While I mentioned that Ashley Judd is like a mom to the UK basketball team she supports, TV host Maria Menounos is like that crazy soccer mom for her teams, because she isn't bashful when it comes to yelling from the stands.

A regular at the Boston Celtics games that she can fit into her schedule, Maria has also been kicked out of a game because of a little friendly rivalry with another diehard celeb fan, Jack Nicholson.

25 of 30

    Elaine Thompson/Associated Press

    Favorite Team: Seattle Seahawks

As someone who has lived up in Seattle, I know just how passionate rapper Macklemore is about his teams, even though he may be one of the newer celebrities on this list.

The unofficial spokesperson of the 12th Man this past season as the Seahawks won the Super Bowl, Macklemore has had the honor of raising the flag during the pregame and performing at halftime during the 2013 NFC Championship Game, so it's no wonder he likes being in CenturyLink—the dude gets hooked up.

Will Ferrell

26 of 30

    Nati Harnik/Associated Press

    Favorite Team: USC Trojans football

Actor Will Ferrell has done a number of stunts that have seen him show love for the USC Trojans over the years.

As a friend of former coach Pete Carroll, Ferrell routinely helped pull off pranks during practices, as well as once leading the band as the Grand Marshall.

Even when not at a football game, the comedian is a regular at NBA games throughout the season and has even appeared on SportsCenter a few times.

Justin Timberlake

27 of 30

    Joe Murphy/Getty Images

    Favorite Team: Memphis Grizzlies

Most dudes don't have a problem admitting they have a bro crush on Justin Timberlake—and who can blame them?

The guy seemingly has it all: a sexy actress wife in Jessica Biel, a career that often gets him mentioned as the modern-day Michael Jackson as well as a job as one of the owners of his hometown Memphis Grizzlies, which allows him to sit courtside at any game he wants to.

Am I jealous of JT? It'd be a lie if I said I wasn't just a bit envious.

28 of 30

    Bruce Bennett/Getty Images

    Favorite Team: Brooklyn Nets

As cool as Justin Timberlake might be, there's no one on the planet as real as Jay-Z.

The ultimate MC, Hova has built up quite the reputation in the sports world these days, going from an owner of his hometown Brooklyn Nets—as the main influence in getting the franchise to relocate from Jersey a few years back—to a certified sports agent.

Rap might be his first love, but Jay has proven that he's not just a businessman, he's a "business, man," making moves that the sports world should be impressed with—particularly the deal he got for client Robinson Cano this MLB offseason.

Spike Lee

29 of 30

    Kathy Willens/Associated Press

    Favorite Team: New York Knicks

For the past several decades, there is one thing that everyone can count on each time they go to a New York Knicks game: Spike Lee.

Even with the team struggling lately, Spike is always sitting in his seat, often jumping up to lay into the officials and rile up opposing players—just ask Reggie Miller.

MSG is often called the most famous arena in the world, and Lee's presence is one of the major reasons why.

Jack Nicholson

30 of 30

    Mark J. Terrill/Associated Press

    Favorite Team: Los Angeles Lakers

There's just no one quite like Jack.

The fact that he just needs to be mentioned by his first name is enough to prove why actor Jack Nicholson finds himself on top of my list.

As the most diehard celeb fan, Nicholson doesn't just cheer for his L.A. Lakers each game; he uses his wit and charm to try and sway the result, if he can.

I've already mentioned how he got opposing fan Maria Menounos kicked out of a finals game a few years back, but don't think for a second that Jack doesn't use the same type of technique on refs at times, too.
