The 2009 Brett Favre Saga

Correct me if I am wrong.

But Doesn't Commissioner Roger Goodell have to reinstate Brett Farve before he officially returns?

Doesn't there have to be paperwork filed and returned before this man officially takes the field?

If so, why doesn't Commissioner Goodell just say no? Not again Brett. Not this time.

I think it would be best for the long run for the NFL if that was what happened in this case. Sure, keeping this story alive keeps people watching, listening, reading about pro football.

But shouldn't someone be the adult here, and just say no? There is NO chance of this being a good thing. A short term "fix", maybe. But you see how that panned out for the New York Jets.

What will he blame this years blunder on this time?

Please, don't get me wrong, i like Brett Favre. well, LIKED Brett Favre. Before the I'm done. PSYCH! Started.

It will fill seats in Minnesota. For one game at least.

But nothing good comes out of this. If Sage Rosenfels is the back up, one year under Favre will not help him turn into a better quarterback. If Tavaris Jackson is the backup, with the style differences, what can he learn?

We can learn that one, if not all of the afforementiond quarterback will not be on the Vikings roster next year. That's not gonna help this franchise.

And there is only 3 months before the season starts. This is a distraction that will not help the organization. No matter who says it's not.

So, Roger Goodell should look Brett in the face and say, "Sorry ol' chap. Not this time. Thanks for the memories."

It's the only way that we as fans can get passed this distraction, and get to the real news.

In all seriousness, this needs to be nipped in the bud so the Vikings can get down to business, and focus on who is going to be under center for this year. And hopefully down the road.

That won't happen, if Brett Favre is allowed to be "un-retired" once again.
