UFC Fight Night 36 Medical Suspensions: Lyoto Machida out 180 Days

Scott HarrisFeb 18, 2014

UFC middleweight contender Lyoto Machida could be out for quite a while following his decision win Saturday at UFC Fight Night 36.

Machida received a 180-day suspension from the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission after he injured his left foot during his main event bout with Gegard Mousasi. The commission's full list of medical suspensions was published Tuesday by Sherdog.

Interestingly, the suspension can be reduced if Machida is cleared by an X-ray. However, MMAFighting.com reported Monday that Machida has already undergone an X-ray, with results indicating the foot was not fractured. It is unclear whether, when or to what extent Machida's suspension might change as a result.
