Barcelona Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of February 17

Jason PettigroveFeb 17, 2014

In a week when Barcelona take on Manchester City in a mouth-watering Champions League tie, the Catalans have still to secure some of their talented youngsters on long-term deals.

Perhaps this is because Tata Martino has yet to commit his own future to the club, per Inside Spanish Football.

When asked about his contract at a recent press conference, he told reporters: "Now isn’t the right time. There will be weeks ahead when there’s less games to play, so maybe then will be the right time."

That may be too late for some.

Whatever the truth surrounding Martino's own position, that will not stop the club from sizing up potential new recruits throughout this period.

Let's take a look at who has been linked in or out in the last few days. Remember to check back throughout the week for updates.

One of the hottest properties in South American football, San Lorenzo's Angel Correa is a wanted man.

According to Ed Malyon of the Daily Mirror, Correa, dubbed "the new Sergio Aguero" has been watched by Barcelona, Napoli, Arsenal and Manchester City, with Atletico Madrid rumoured to be considering a bid.

If the Blaugrana wish to secure a player who can play both as the main striker or in a more withdrawn role, then clearly they will need to move quickly.

On-loan Rafinha Alcantara may not be rejoining Barcelona once his loan period at Celta Vigo ends.

According to John Cross of the Daily Mirror, Thiago's younger brother may end up where his elder sibling did not, with Manchester United said to be monitoring developments.

David Moyes is plotting a major summer spending spree and Barca are preparing to welcome Rafinha back into the fold.

It remains to be seen if the Blaugrana are willing to lose another of their highly prized talents.

Although he's never been on the losing side whilst in a Barcelona shirt, few would say that Alex Song's time with the Catalans has been an unqualified success.

To that end, according to Marca, the Blaugrana have put the player up for sale with a view to a summer transfer.

The report goes on to suggest that there are a number of English Premier League clubs that are monitoring developments.
