Sergio Rodriguez to The New York Knicks?: An Update

Busta BucketJun 8, 2009

Earlier today, I saw a headline on Real GM stating that the Blazers and Knicks had a deal in place which would send Sergio Rodriguez to the Knicks on draft night for a pick of some kind.

This type of deal certainly makes sense, but the validity of the article is still in question. Bust a Bucket's favorite Spanish translator, Stephen, had this to say about the situation:

This guy says the deal has been done for 20 days now, but they can't announce it until the draft. The article just states it as fact, but doesn't even try to cite a source. Meanwhile the much more trustworthy MARCA.com has not mentioned anything, not even as a rumor.

Obviously, the Knicks would love to have Rodriguez, who would fit in well. But as Stephen says, no trustworthy news outlets are picking it up and there are no real citations.

Let's say for a second that this is legit. Would the Blazers be looking to get Stephen Curry? Is he really the right option at the point guard position for this Trail Blazers team?

My head is going to explode.

Possible full translation of the article coming this evening, so stay tuned.

UPDATE: According to Wheels at Work, Allan Hahn made a few calls and stated that the article linked above is inaccurate. There is apparently no deal in place even though the Knicks may in fact still have interest in Sergio. No way! Rumors are silly sometimes.
