WWE Elimination Chamber: Best Booking for Royal Rumble Losers

Sharon GlencrossFeb 5, 2014

At the Royal Rumble pay-per-view two weeks ago, several high-profile stars did not emerge victorious and left Pittsburgh losers. So how can WWE bookers properly rehabilitate these men come the Elimination Chamber on February 23?

Daniel Bryan notably lost to Bray Wyatt in the opening match of the Royal Rumble show. He didn't participate in the battle royal later in the evening either—much to the chagrin of the fans in attendance.

Of course, WWE has—for now, at least—decided to go with the flow and push him in the main event scene. The 32-year-old is currently scheduled to go against five other guys in the Elimination Chamber match. Could he win? Honestly, it might not be as far-fetched as it sounds.

Few seem thrilled by the prospect of Randy Orton vs. Batista at WrestleMania XXX and it's easy to see both men getting booed out of the building come April 6.

Remember the crowd reaction to the infamous Brock Lesnar-Bill Goldberg bout at WrestleMania XX? We could be looking at a very similar situation here.

Could Vince McMahon make the call to scrap Orton-Batista, switch the belt to Bryan at Elimination Chamber and to an entirely different main event at WrestleMania? Well, it would make the fans happy if nothing else.

Someone else could leave Minneapolis with the title.

John Cena also came up short at the event when he failed to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from Orton after the Wyatt Family interfered. Cena is now scheduled to be in the Elimination Chamber bout.

Presumably Cena and Bray Wyatt are headed for a showdown at WrestleMania—could the belt be on the line? Giving the former WWE champion the belt is usually the safe option for Vince McMahon, and it would help drum up some much-needed interest in the Wyatt match if the belt was on the line.

Whatever he does at Elimination Chamber, The Big Show needs to come out of it looking strong, dominant and credible too.

The giant was basically annihilated by Brock Lesnar in their singles match at the Royal Rumble. And this comes after almost a year of erratic and inconsistent booking. Remember when he was the one man who could stop The Authority's reign of terror?

Unlike Big Show, Shield member Roman Reigns had a very good showing at the Royal Rumble, even in losing—he managed to make it down to the final two.

In order to keep us his momentum, WWE should script the star to go over strong in the Shield vs. Wyatt Family bout at Elimination Chamber. Really, scripting to him lose or take the pinfall is one of the worst things the writers could do right now.

As the final show before the company’s hugely anticipated WrestleMania XXX event, there’s a lot of pressure on Elimination Chamber to build up the credibility of previously mentioned grapplers again. Let’s hope the booking team can sufficiently live up to the expectations.
