WWE Elimination Chamber 2014: Power Ranking Most Likely Swerves

Aaron BowerFeb 5, 2014

With Elimination Chamber fast approaching, speculation has been ramped up as to what final twists and turns we will see before WrestleMania XXX.

Since the Chamber is the final pay-per-view before the biggest show of the year, it is likely we will see some dramatic swerves from the company to try and generate excitement for WrestleMania.

Some are going to be expected and will see the conclusion of storylines that have been going on for a good while.

However, some should be completely out of left field and catch us all by surprise. But what can we expect in terms of swerves at Elimination Chamber?

Let's take a look at the most likely.

5. The Phenom Returns

1 of 5

Surely it's going to happen? The Undertaker will make his return to the company and set up a program for WrestleMania eventually, and Elimination Chamber is one of the final destinations on the road to WrestleMania XXX.

The only problem is there doesn't really seem to be a path for 'Taker into Elimination Chamber. The big dilemma is who The Deadman is going to fight at WrestleMania XXX, with Brock Lesnar being the most likely option.

Lesnar isn't scheduled to work at the event, but Creative should be able to find a way around that if it is to create a program between the former UFC man and 'Taker.

But in all fairness, it just doesn't seem like a likely event at this precise moment in time.

4. Sting Arrives Earlier Than Expected

2 of 5

OK, so Elimination Chamber might be too premature for this particular swerve, but it depends on how keen the WWE is to get him involved at WrestleMania XXX.

Sting is the biggest name never to have worked with the WWE, and with the company's flagship pay-per-view struggling to take shape, will the company panic and bring Sting in early?

It would certainly be a way to boost purchases of WrestleMania XXX, that is for sure. Another big name jumping on board right in time for a huge show will be greatly beneficial for the WWE.

The big problem is how Sting is brought back at this moment in time. Perhaps Triple H could be in his sights?

3. CM Punk Proves It Was All a Work

3 of 5

Arguably the biggest talking point in the WWE at the moment is based around CM Punk. Is his "departure" from the company legitimate, or is it all just another elaborate work from Punk and the WWE?

By the time Elimination Chamber rolls around, he will have been off TV for four weeks. That would be enough for some fans to almost forget about Punk—or at least believe it is all a work.

The big question is, how on earth would the WWE bring Punk back at the Chamber? Could he perhaps return to impact the plans of The Authority in some fashion?

What is likely to happen if he does come back is that he will be make a save on somebody like Daniel Bryan, who once again has become the public whipping boy for The Authority.

It's possible, but it isn't exactly a certainty.

2. Brock Lesnar Sabotages the Show

4 of 5

As of the Feb. 3 edition of Raw, there are no plans for Brock Lesnar at Elimination Chamber. That seems bizarre since it is being held in his hometown, after all.

Perhaps there is a reason for him not being booked, though. Maybe he is going to simply turn up and do what Brock does best—cause absolute mayhem.

Whether it is in the actual Chamber match or in a match potentially between Batista and Alberto Del Rio, it seems as though something that is likely to happen involving the Beast.

It seems impossible that, after Lesnar and Paul Heyman's promo on Raw with Randy Orton and Batista, that the monster Lesnar is simply going to sit back and watch the show to see how it pans out.

1. The Shield Finally Implodes

5 of 5

It's been teased for long enough now. We can go back months tracking little hints of The Shield's issues—or, more specifically, the tension between Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose.

The Royal Rumble brought us our biggest clue yet that the members of The Shield would soon go their separate ways after Reigns dispatched of Ambrose and Seth Rollins in the marquee match.

This past week's Raw brought us another suggestion of turmoil between Reigns and the united States Champion.

Will the group's demise occur at Elimination Chamber? The smart money would suggest yes. With WrestleMania around the corner, a great way to start an inter-stable feud would be having the three guys square off at 'Mania this year.

How could it be done? Given they are facing The Wyatt Family, perhaps Ambrose and Rollins could sell Reigns—who is set for a huge face turn—down the river and leave him to face a beating.

Whatever the case, it looks like it will finally happen at Elimination Chamber.
