How Roman Abramovich Has Changed Football
I'm an Arsenal Fan and I come in Peace! I have something to say which can be seen as positive.
People have said a lot about Roman Abramovich. Most of comments have been negative and frankly, I am also much divided in my opinion of him.
When he came into football and bought Chelsea, things were never the same again. He bought players for so much more than what their market value was and suddenly all players that were worth five million-dollars were suddenly worth £12 million.

Ever since then, the premier league was forced to move forward once again. If we review what has happened in the six years since Abramovich came and forced English football to move forward, it has become a dominant force in World Football. For the last six years, an English team has been in the champion's league knockout phases and in the semi-finals every year.
There is no doubt that Abramovich has shaped the way football has changed over the last six years. I am not going to lie, when Chelsea won their two titles in a row, I was as jealous as any other fan and blamed it all on their riches, which is actually true. However, that's not the point I am trying to make.
Abramovich has forced all Premier League clubs to step it up lately. Since then, Manchester United and Liverpool have stepped up, but Arsenal maybe have regressed.
The Positive effects Abramovich has had on the PL
Since the "Top Four" was established, the PL has been seen as the best league in the world. The Television money that PL league clubs receive nowadays is ridiculous but because of what Abramovich has brought to the game, it simply made football more challenging. It has been challenging for teams like Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle, and Liverpool.
As an Arsenal fan, I loved seeing the domination between some of the teams. However, ever since Chelsea came around, its meant a pretty extensive transition period for Arsenal because of the "Invincibles." He has made the game more challenging for not only everyone of the teams at the top but the teams at the bottom too.
The Negative effects Abramovich has had on the PL
Since Abramovich has come around, he has inflated the prices for nearly every PL player. People like Glen Johnson for instance went to Chelsea for £12.5 million! Other players which were worth much less went for a lot more. While I'm saying this, I have to mention Real Madrid, who did spend pretty hefty amount in the early years of the millennium. I guess you could say Chelsea mimicked them.
Overall, Abramovich has changed the way that football has been played in this country. Since he came along, football has been more challenging, exciting, and pleasurable to watch (but let us still not forget Arsenal and how they entertain us). He may have ushered in a new ear of unbridled spending but he's made the PL the best league in the world.
