Lakers Honor Late Owner Jerry Buss with Bobblehead

It's been nearly a year since the Los Angeles Lakers lost their iconic owner, Dr. Jerry Buss, to cancer. The team is honoring him by handing out bobbleheads with his likeness to all fans in attendance for the Lakers' game against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night.

The included Vine presentation pays tribute to Buss, showing much of his life in Southern California. It starts out at USC, where Buss became "Dr. Buss," earning a PhD and M.S. in physical chemistry. From there it goes on to show Buss' tenure as owner of the Lakers. And, of course, it shows the ultra successful owner hoisting a Larry O'Brien Trophy, a pose he was extremely familiar with.

Buss bought the franchise in 1979 and guided it for more than 30 years. During his tenure as owner, the Lakers experienced their greatest period of success, winning 10 of their 16 NBA championships.

Buss' Lakers teams featured some of the NBA's all-time best players, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal, James Worthy and current Laker Kobe Bryant, as well as coaches Pat Riley and Phil Jackson.

The team has fallen on hard times since his passing, getting swept in the first round of the playoffs by the San Antonio Spurs in 2012-13. Things are looking even worse this year, as L.A. is off to a 16-29 start and is currently 13th in the Western Conference. It'll take a miraculous turnaround for it to qualify for the postseason, something that seemingly happened every year during Buss' tenure as owner. 

Dr. Buss will never be forgotten, and to make certain of this, there's now a bobblehead honoring the legendary owner.
