Blazers All-Time Fantasy Draft
What does a bored group of Blazer fanatics do to pass the time instead of watching the Lakers win a championship? Conduct a four-team draft of all-time Blazer greats and pit them against each other via the Internet, of course.
Sheed, Bowerz, Scotty B! and I took turns drafting from the pool of every player that ever wore a Blazer uniform, to create individual Blazer fantasy teams. The plan is to then battle it out using the amazing website WhatIfSports.com to create and simulate games between our Blazer dream teams.
See our draft results below. Take in to consideration that WhatIfSports uses an individual season of a player in its simulations. So we were drafting players that had the best individual seasons as Blazers, not the best careers. The year we chose for each player can be found below. Onto the draft...

We also got the "Godfather of Portland Sports Media," Dwight Jaynes, to look over our final rosters to give us his thoughts. Think of him as our Mel Kiper Jr. for this draft.
Dwight Jaynes: Scotty B's team would be handicapped by some VERY slow big men. Good low-post scorers, but small and slow. Clyde and Danny would be frustrated playing with those turtles.

- 2006-07 Zach Randolph
- 1994-95 Clifford Robinson

Championship Menaces (Bowerz)
DJ: If all these players are used at the absolute peak of their careers, I have to like this team the best. Walton, at his best, is enough to make any of these teams the favorite...he should have gone No. 1 overall (Scotty B...are you nuts?). Granted, Walton has some real attitude problems to deal with on this team, but guess what? He's got Mo Lucas there to police those dudes—so trust me, there will be no problems with that group.
- 1977-78 Bill Walton
- 1988-89 Terry Porter
- 1976-77 Maurice Lucas
- 2000-01 Rasheed Wallace
- 1996-97 Isaiah Rider

- 2008-09 Greg Oden
- 1973-74 John Johnson
Sheed's Shenanigan's
DJ: As for Sheed's squad...Jarrett Jack? Seriously? Wow. I'd take Dave Twardzik any day over he or Danny Young...and come on—where's Fat Lever???
- 2008-09 Brandon Roy
- 1971-72 Sidney Wicks
- 1995-96 Rod Strickland
- 1987-88 Jerome Kersey
- 1970-71 Leroy Ellis
- 1984-85 Sam Bowie
- 2008-09 LaMarcus Aldridge
- 1979-80 Kermit Washington

- 1972-73 Lloyd Neal
- 2006-07 Jarrett Jack
Fighting Kiki's (CDub)
DJ: CDub has a great offensive team that will give up a ton of points, but man, to see those guys at their best on offense would be something. Kiki is still probably one of my favorite all-time players to watch...an incredible scorer who could nail threes, drive on you, or dunk it right in your grill with either hand. He NEVER missed a dunk...huge hands.
- 1972-73 Geoff Petrie
- 1986-87 Kiki Vandeweghe
- 1981-82 Mychal Thompson
- 1988-89 Kevin Duckworth
- 1996-97 Kenny Anderson
- 1999-00 Scottie Pippen
- 2004-05 Damon Stoudamire
- 1981-82 Calvin Natt
- 1998-99 Brian Grant
- 2008-09 Rudy Fernandez
- 1977-78 Bob Gross
- 2008-09 Joel Przybilla
DJ: The amazing thing about an exercise like this is that it makes you realize how much talent has passed through this franchise. If there is any justice though, Team Bowerz wins this thing going away. Best roster on paper, but you have to play—oops—you play ON PAPER in this game. I guess Bowerz wins!
Thanks for the commentary, Dwight. But we'll have to see if your predictions are correct, as we'll see what the computers have to say about these outcomes. Stay tuned!
