Getafe vs. Barcelona: Live Player Ratings for Barcelona

Jerrad PetersJan 16, 2014

Lionel Messi scored once in each period to give Barcelona a 2-0 win away to Getafe and 6-0 aggregate victory in this Copa del Rey contest on the outskirts of Madrid.

But it was an injury to Neymar midway through the opening period that is certainly the biggest talking-point of the contest so far. The Brazil forward was immediately replaced by Alexis Sanchez and went straight down the tunnel with an apparent ankle injury.

Following are player ratings and analysis for each of Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino’s men.

First Half analysis

Pinto: Made a spectacular save on Rodriguez when the score was still 0-0.

Alves: Not spectacular; not awful—a microcosm of his season.

Puyol: Completed 100% of his passes in the first half.

Bartra: The 23-year-old putting together another solid performance.

Adriano: Doing well in an attacking role down the left-hand side of the pitch.

Roberto: Had 44 touches and completed 92% of his passes.

Song: Lafita and Rodriguez are causing the former Arsenal man a few problems.

Fabregas: Good pass to Tello on the buildup to Messi’s goal.

Tello: Already repaid Martino for giving him the start with a first-half assist.

Messi: A neat, improvised finish to give Barcelona the lead.

Neymar: Withdrawn in the 28th minute with an ankle injury.

Second Half analysis

Pinto: Denied Colunga from point-blank range late in the second half.

Alves: Ended up being a decent 90 minutes for the Brazilian, who did well to neutralize the Sarabia threat.

Puyol: Not often the club captain will put in a full 90 minutes.

Bartra: Did nothing to dissuade the notion that he should be starting more matches in La Liga.

Adriano: Was beaten by Vigaray just once.

Roberto: The quality of his distribution and defensive sense will have impressed Martino.

Song: Had a better second half and wound up completing 95% of his passes.

Fabregas: Replaced by Xavi in the 70th minute after a good performance that included an assist.

Tello: An assist and six shots for the 22-year-old.

Messi: His second goal—a winding, solo effort—was an absolute golazo.

Neymar: Barcelona have confirmed he has an ankle injury.

Alexis: Outplayed by Tello on this night.

Xavi: Made his 700th Barcelona appearance.
