Jerrad PetersJan 15, 2014

Manchester City found their shooting boots after a choppy, disjointed first half that only yielded an Alvaro Negredo goal just moments before the halftime whistle.

The Spaniard got his second of the night almost straight after the restart, and before time was called on this FA Cup Third Round replay Edin Dzeko had bagged a brace and Sergio Aguero had found the back of the net a mere seconds after coming on as a substitute.

Following are player ratings and analysis for all of City manager Manuel Pellegrini’s men.

First Half analysis

Pantilimon: Had only a single shot to stop in the first half.

Richards: Directly responsible for two Blackburn corners.

Lescott: Played a woeful ball to Milner that ended a promising bit of buildup play.

Nastasic: Completed 94% of his passes.

Clichy: Quite an average period from the left-back.

Navas: Trying to make things happen down the right; interchanging nicely with Fernandinho.

Garcia: Seems to spend most of his time on the surface after flying into tackles.

Fernandinho: Exceptional period on both the defensive and attacking sides of the ball.

Milner: Wearing the captain’s armband in a rare start.

Dzeko: Missed three decent scoring chances in the opening frame.

Negredo: Took his goal well and is now City’s leading scorer with 20 goals on the season.

Second Half analysis

Pantilimon: Made a spectacular save on Joshua King midway through the second half.

Richards: Was withdrawn in favour of Emyr Huws with 13 minutes remaining.

Lescott: A mostly solid effort marred somewhat by an awful giveaway inside his own 18-yard box with City still only 2-0 up.

Nastasic: Complated 96% of his passes on the night.

Clichy: Superb delivery in the buildup to Aguero’s goal.

Navas: Earned assists on both of Dzeko’s goals.

Garcia: Still very much a squad player in this Manchester City team.

Fernandinho: Was given the rest of the night off at the break.

Milner: A solid, if not unspectacular, performance from the skipper.

Dzeko: His finishing improved considerably in the second period.

Negredo: Extended his club-leading goal haul to 21.

Kolarov: Exquisite pass behind the defense for Negredo’s second.

Aguero: Scored literally seconds after replacing Negredo.

Huws: Only 14 touches in his brief cameo.
