The 2013-14 Heineken Cup pool stage is coming to its inevitable finish in the coming days, and the tense atmosphere among Europe's biggest giants only makes for meatier impacts as a result.

The continental hopefuls clashed in search of finding the means to book their places in the knockout phases of the competition, with Toulon and Cardiff Blues proving particularly fierce in this weekend's pursuit.

However, this weekend also brought back some Southern Hemisphere influence, as the Bayleys National Sevens tournament in Rotorua featured a member of the coaching staff getting a little too close to the action down in New Zealand.

The forces of Edinburgh and Gloucester were also on show, and this week's edition of the biggest hits has the pleasant opportunity to include an always-appreciated falcon.

It's not every week that such big occasions come around, and Europe's rugby giants certainly repaid the favour in full with some cataclysmic clashes this past week.
