WWE SmackDown: Spoiler-Free Preview for Jan. 10

Ryan DilbertJan 9, 2014

The Jan. 10 edition of WWE SmackDown will be another showcase of the prospering tag team division.

The show that taped in Philadelphia, Pa. features duos like The Usos, The Wyatt Family and The Real Americans, as well as CM Punk joining forces with two names from the past. A rivalry appears set to begin, as a recent NXT call-up gets a fresh opponent.

Add a champion vs. champion collision, and Friday night's lineup seems mighty enticing.

Without spoiling the results, here is a preview of that match and the rest of the card on Friday's SmackDown.

The Wyatt Family vs. The Usos

Erick Rowan and Luke Harper will represent the growing Wyatt Family in battle. Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt are surely not going to be far away from the action, though.

The Usos have defeated the big bruisers before, but they now not only have to deal with the dangerous Harper and Rowan but the distraction of a former ally's presence at ringside.

Daniel Bryan taking in advice from Bray Wyatt.

Should Jimmy and Jey Uso find a way to best The Wyatt Family, they'll be in much better position to demand a tag team title shot. That victory is going to be a tough one to get, however. Harper and Rowan look more vicious each week.

Fandango vs. Xavier Woods

Wednesday's Main Event saw two men of varying dancing styles collide.

Fandango interrupted Woods' tag match against The Real Americans. That led to Woods and R-Truth losing the match and will likely start a feud between the two wrestlers.

After battling Brodus Clay for several weeks, Woods gets an opponent with far more athleticism. The speed and agility of both foes should equal a fast-paced, exciting match.

Both Fandango and Woods could use an emphatic victory, but getting involved in a rivalry is just as beneficial for both men.

Rey Mysterio, Sin Cara and Los Matadores vs. Ryback, Curtis Axel and The Real Americans

WWE fans get another look at Mysterio after he's slowed down his workload of late. He joins three other masked men in a tag match that could either be a quick, silly affair or a showcase of wrestling talent.

Will the fan favorites make quick work of Axel, Ryback, Antonio Cesaro and Jack Swagger? Or will we get further proof that the tag team division is the highlight of the WWE?

Los Matadores have had few opportunities against teams other than 3MB. Ryback's intensity and his teammates' mat skills could make for one of the bullfighters' better bouts.

CM Punk and New Age Outlaws vs. The Shield

Road Dogg and Billy Gunn join Punk once more to take on WWE's black-clad thugs.

On Monday's Raw, the New Age Outlaws helped Punk and Roddy Piper fend off The Shield. That brawl was apparently not the end of the story.

The former tag champs from the Attitude Era get a crack at Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, a trio with a reputation for producing exciting in-ring action just about every time out. Working with the older Dogg and Gunn will be a challenge.

Nostalgia and fun will be a part of the match, but it will be impressive if The Shield can get a standout bout from this on top of that.

Randy Orton vs. Big E Langston

In a champion vs. champion bout, Orton takes on a powerhouse with more momentum now than anyone not named Reigns.

The last time that these two tangled, Langston had the best match of his career. He and Orton had great chemistry, their contrasting styles merging extremely well.

This time around, Orton is looking to gain some steam on his way to a title fight with John Cena at Royal Rumble. Langston has disposed of his opposition with little trouble as of late. However, going from Damien Sandow and Curtis Axel to Orton is a huge jump up in competition.

A win against the WWE World Champion would be his biggest get yet, and even a strong performance in a loss would be a major positive for him.

Langston's attempt to knock off The Viper is one of many reasons to tune into SmackDown on Jan. 10. In addition, tag team wrestling rules once more, and Woods gets a chance to impress. WWE fans have little reason not to set their DVR to record all the action on Friday night.
