Timofey Mozgov Continues His Dunking Revenge Tour
Denver Nuggets center Timofey Mozgov is on a mission—a mission to shed the label of "the guy who Blake Griffin dunked on."
The Russian big man capped off a fast break with a vicious dunk against the Boston Celtics, and added a big-time block in the Nuggets' 129-98 blowout victory on Tuesday.
Mozgov has embraced the opportunity to play more minutes this season. He had a 17-point, 20-rebound effort on Dec. 3 against the Brooklyn Nets, and a 20-point, seven-rebound performance against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.
He's playing solid defense and throwing down highlight-reel dunks on a regular basis.
He almost got revenge on Griffin in 2012 (a block negated by a foul call):
Mozgov is a competitor, and he hasn't let getting infamously shown up define his NBA career.
The 27-year-old is averaging 8.8 points, six rebounds, 1.2 blocks and is shooting 55.1 percent from the field. Those numbers are all career highs.
