Full Preview for WWE Main Event Featuring Cody Rhodes and Goldust
Welcome to your weekly spoiler-free preview of WWE Main Event. Here, you will get a rundown of all of the matches set to take place and the possible repercussions.
The first televised episode of Main Event in 2014 is making up for last week's web-only, two-match episode by including four matches on the card this week.
While more is usually a good thing, it might not be the case with Main Event. There is only an hour's time to allocate, and each match could be somewhat short because of it.
But that doesn't mean every match will be a bust. The great thing about Main Event is that we could see a great match on any given Wednesday, and hopefully this week sees at least one.
Let's take a look at the matches scheduled for the show.
The Real Americans vs. R-Truth and Xavier Woods
The unnamed pairing of R-Truth and Xavier Woods will take on the talented duo of Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro in a tag team match.
These four men are all talented enough to put on a fun match, but seeing as the card is packed to the brim, it is likely that this one will be over faster than expected.
Woods and Truth are a new team that WWE may want to give a couple of easy wins to in order to make them seem legitimate. However, Swagger and Cesaro have been in and out of the title hunt recently, so this match could really go either way.
Let's just hope that they make the most of their minutes and put on a good show. Now we just need to come up with a name for the team of R-Truth and Xavier Woods.
Alberto Del Rio vs. Justin Gabriel
Seeing as Alberto Del Rio made it clear that he has his sights set on Batista during Raw Old School, it seems very unlikely that he will give up a win to a low-card Superstar like Justin Gabriel.
This match will almost certainly be a squash, but Gabriel might get in a couple of exciting moves before he inevitably taps to the Cross Armbreaker.
Expect some kind of attention paid to the fact that Del Rio is setting his sights on The Animal during the Royal Rumble.
3MB vs. The Brotherhood
With Heath Slater back in the mix, it could end up being any combination of the three members of 3MB that takes on Cody Rhodes and Goldust, but the combination doesn't matter.
Goldust and Cody are champions and just too good lately to let 3MB get one over on them. The real-life brothers have become one of the best teams we have seen come along in recent years, and they will no doubt continue their winning ways.
But the match could still be really entertaining. Jinder Mahal, Drew McIntyre and Heath Slater can all be entertaining in the ring when WWE lets them be, and it's just possible that they could give The Brotherhood a run for their money.
For those of you with a short memory, this match could see two former tag team champions facing off against each other. Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre were once champions together, and it will be interesting to see if the announcers acknowledge that at all.
We can hope for a five-star match, but seeing a Goldierana will suffice.
Kaitlyn vs. AJ Lee
AJ's greatest rival has been so out-of-the-picture recently that it almost seems strange to see her getting a match against the Divas champion.
Kaitlyn was once a bright spot among the female talent in WWE, but recent months have seen her role diminished to AJ's personal jobber.
These two women know each other very well, having teamed up as the Chickbusters at one point, so this could still be a good bout.
Both of them have great skill in the ring, and Kaitlyn's power never makes her seem like the underdog, but the x-factor here is Tamina.
Will the daughter of Superfly Jimmy Snuka be at ringside? And if she is, will she get involved? You'll have to watch Main Event to find out.
That's it for this week. What match are you looking forward to the most?
