United States to Exit 2014 World Cup at Group Stage, Predicts 'Football Manager'

Will TideyJan 6, 2014

We can exclusively reveal that the United States will endure a miserable World Cup this summer, according to a simulation of the entire tournament run by the Football Manager 2014 video game for Bleacher Report.

"These simulations are usually scary accurate," said a Football Manager representative to B/R, which does not bode at all well for Jurgen Klinsmann's team.

For its first match in Brazil, Football Manager predicts a 3-1 defeat to Ghana.

The U.S. will respond well to that disappointment, however, with a 0-0 draw against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal.

But, needing a victory to advance to the knockout stages, Klinsmann's team will suffer a 3-1 loss to Germany in its final match to end its interest in the tournament.

Football Manager does predict a good World Cup for Landon Donovan, however, who will be Team USA's best performer in what will surely be his last major tournament.

More details are to come on the simulation in future articles. Suffice to say fans of the host nation Brazil will be happy with the results.
