Showing Some Love to the Texas Rangers

Hello, all. My name is Clint…and I’m a Rangersaholic. Whew! That took a load off my shoulders. What might that be? Basically, a Rangersaholic is one who does nothing but constantly support, research, and live all things Texas Rangers.

Some might think I am a little different for my beliefs, but I find solace in the fact that I am a dying breed. I stand for something in sports that all fans of any game should take note of. I like a team simply because they are my home team and always will be.

Take a look around Rangers Ballpark in Arlingtonthe next time the Boston Red Sox come into town. What do you imagine the population would be? I would guess about a 50-50 split between Bo Sox and ‘Gers fans. “Attention all Red Sox fans, the next bandwagon will be arriving in ten minutes. I repeat, ten minutes!”

Give me a break, people. I have endured a battery of taunts,insults, and downright rudeness ever since I decided to showcase my support for the Rangers. “How did those Rangers do today?” “Did you catch that Rangers game?” “The Rangers really showed up today!”

Without provoking anyone, I constantly receive those questions and comments daily just so people can get a laugh from the Rangers. Now I think it is safe to say that I no longer acknowledge any negative form of criticism toward my favorite team. It simply goes in one ear and out the other. I am happy to say that this season of Texas Rangers baseball could easily be one of the most pivotal seasons the organization has been through.

Will Jon Daniels’ trades for younger prospects and major league-ready players finally pay dividends? Can Josh Hamilton make people forget about Gary Matthews Jr? I know it will be hard for me to forget everything GMJ did for the organization. With his acrobatic catches and quick bat, it will be quite difficult. Will one of the minor league pitching phenoms finally supplant Jason Jennings in the rotation? Is Jason Botts going to earn his spot on first base? Much remains to be seen with this season of Rangers baseball. All I want to know is…when will we see it?
