Rooting for the Home Team

rooting for the home team
I guess I should start off by saying that I'm not actually from New Orleans, but from Yankeeville: Monroe in N. Louisiana.
I became a Saints fan when I was old enough to spurt out my first cuss word. You can go back to the days of the Dome Patrol when my interest first sparked with following my team.
Many times, my Dad sent me to my room, threw shoes at the TV, and even at me when the Saints had their misfortunes.
Never could understand why he would get so upset at a football game, but now at 27 years old, I've come to realize he was more like an angel in Heaven compared to how I act while watching my games.
I will say that I'm not a fun person to watch a Saints game with.
1. I can't watch it with a bunch of people.
2. I can't handle people giving me their opinion on every single play.
3. I can't handle negative talk; the negative talk going through my brain is enough.
4. I need plenty of room to walk around and talk to myself and at least five different places to sit depending on the situation in the game.
I would like to say that I embrace every single player that becomes part of the organization no matter who it is. See, being a Saints fan is like being married to a bipolar woman.
Everything seems to be going good, high expectations, and then bam! You're hit with a "Why the hell are you working overtime this weekend" when you thought you were doing a good thing because we are so broke right now!
Kind of like when Carney missed the extra point a few years back after the River City Relay that may have given the Saints a playoff berth.
Sometimes, I wonder if it's a good thing the Saints never make it to the Super Bowl.
Maybe just because we want it so bad, that never being there keeps us rooting and day dreaming about it, that when the Day finally comes and Saints win it, well, heck I don't know what I'm trying to say.
All I can say is, this is a guy, the one typing this, me, has been a true fan.
Even in years when they had one game left and a record of 3-12, I was getting pumped up to watch it like it was a playoff game.
So for all you that jump on the bandwagon when your home team does good, well, personally I'd rather you find another team to root for and let us true fans follow our Black 'n' Gold.
