Hakeem Nicks Injury: Updates on Giants WR's Ankle and Return

Kenny DeJohnDec 29, 2013

A frustrating season for New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has ended in similarly frustrating fashion. Dan Graziano of ESPN tweeted that Nicks will be out for the remainder of Week 17's divisional clash against the Washington Redskins with an ankle sprain.

Nicks hauled in two passes for 50 yards before leaving the contest. ESPN's Trey Wingo points out, in response to Graziano's tweet, that Nicks' season didn't exactly go as planned.

Nicks started 15 games this season for the Giants and hauled in 56 passes for 896 yards in the process. This marks the second consecutive season that Nicks has failed to top 1,000 yards after achieving the feat in both 2010 and 2011.

Undoubtedly, the presence of Victor Cruz on offense has affected Nicks' production and targets.

Nicks is without a contract for 2014, and it remains to be seen if he'll return to the Giants. For now, he'll rest up and focus on that when free agency begins.
