The playoffs started early for the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, as the NFC East rivals will squared off to decide the division championship Sunday night.

By virtue of a 24-22 final, the Birds move on to the postseason, while the Cowboys will clean out their lockers on Monday.

The Eagles are riding a wave of momentum into the postseason, having won seven of their last eight to storm into the tournament. With the NFL’s second-ranked offense and a bend-don’t-break defense that’s held all but three opponents to 22 or fewer points this season, they'll be a dangerous opponent for anybody.

The Cowboys floundered all week leading up to the tilt in the wake of devastating injury news on both sides of the ball. Chief among them was Tony Romo, who was unable to play through a back injury, leaving journeyman backup Kyle Orton to start under center. Orton would eventually throw the decisive interception.

Philadelphia overcame some slip-ups is prone to slip-ups, but they did just enough to eek out an opponent that didn't understand they were supposed to lose. That’s why the game is played on the field and not on paper.
