A Search For Meaning : In Vain

antiMatterJun 1, 2009

I think, therefore I am.

It was the consciousness. It was the world. Whatever happened on earth was it's dreams—it's thoughts. Whatever happened in the universe was its rationalizations.

It could also be the other way round. It was the abstraction for whatever subjective that happened in the world. It was the rationale behind the physics of the Universe. But to the metaphysically-disabled human, it did not make any difference.

It was, to all except one, the ultimate truth, the ultimate power.

But it knew there was one being that did not bow it's head to it. And it was seeking out triumph. It was seeking to vanquish it's villain—the villain that none knew existed.

In a dark alley of the psychic plane, it hunted down for it's antagonist and upon meeting it, the following conversation ensued:

The Ultimate: "We need to settle this question—which of us is better."

The Other: "Do we need to?"

The Ultimate: "Yes of course, I am known to all to be the Ultimate. But you are the only one that defies my authority. I need to prove it, if not for the others, then for me. If not for my elemental vicissitudes, then for my seamless totality—that I am the Ultimate, that I control everything."

The Other: "I do not deny you are the Ultimate."

The Ultimate: "Then accept it!"

The Other: "I do not do that, too"

The Ultimate: "Then are you indeterminate? You should not even exist, then"

The Other: "Am I?" (Grins)

Seeing it's companion silent and puzzled, the Other continues.

The Other: "I am not. Indeterminates do not exist. But I do exist. So I am not one."

The Ultimate: "Tell me why you do not consider me your superior. I am the consciousness of all. I strive for achievements and realize my dreams. I am a winner in anything known.

Granted, parts of me fail, but only for another to win. So the winner is in me—the best is in me."

The Other refused to speak, so it continued.

The Ultimate continued: "I encompass everything. I encompass all positive and negative thoughts. I encompass the victor and the loser. I encompass the evil and the good. I encompass the rational and the irrational. Either you do not exist or I encompass you too. I am the ultimate."

The Other: "No. You do not encompass the thought that doesn't care. You do not encompass the thought that doesn't define good and evil. You do not encompass the soul that doesn't win or lose.

I am the axiom that everything is nothing. I am the axiom that forbids the search for meaning. I am the axiom that denies emotions. I am the axiom that recommends rationality without premises.

I have no authority above me, nor have I any slaves under me.

You encompass both infinities, but I am the true indivisible zero."

In a state of intellectual realisation, the Ultimate stumbled a bit—a reflex action to make it's positives cancel it's negatives. It was an action beyond it's consciousness to try and encompass the zero.

On Earth, the time of the year was the end of May and the beginning of June.

---------------------------------------------

The tennis world has been shaken. Rafael Nadal was beaten by the most improbable of men. Even men who follow objective rationality to the core are searching for a meaning as to why this happened.

Why was the champion annulled, and by the man who was his negative in talent and ethics? Is it a marriage of the positive and the negative to give birth to the zero?

The excellent has bitten the dust while the vulgar has embraced excellence. What cosmic conspiracy was the reason for this fallacy?

------------------------------------------------

Realizing the paradox in it's attempt, the Ultimate righted the ship. It could encompass either "all" or "nothing". Not both. If that happened, it would be an indeterminacy and would go out of existence.

The search for meaning would never cease. When it ceased, it would have no infinitesimal vicissitudes. It would be smooth in its parts and total.

If "all" went out of existence, then only "nothing" would remain.

-------------------------------------------------

Roger Federer seemed to get back from a seemingly impossible position against Tommy Haas. Seems things are normal again.

There is nothing wrong with the cosmos after all.
