Oregon Ducks Track & Field: Headed To Nationals
After a powerful showing in winning the Pac-10 Track and Field Championships two weeks ago, the University of Oregon men's and women's teams guarded against over-confidence going into the Regional qualifier.
With the Regionals just completed this weekend, that guarded optimism may again be a good strategy going into the NCAA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The Ducks have every reason to be optimistic however, qualifying 23 athletes (12 men, 11 women) for the big meet in Fayetteville, Arkansas, June 10-13.
As in the Pac-10 Championships, the Ducks were the beneficiary of 7100 partisan home fans at Historic Hayward Field in Eugene. The men produced six individual champions and the women earned four. The remainder of Oregon's contingent was filled by top-five finishers.
For the Oregon men, a NCAA Outdoor Championship would make it a clean sweep, having won the NCAA Indoor Championship earlier in the year.
