Bootsy Collins Brings the Funky Holiday Cheer with Peyton Manning Carol

Thank you, Internet. We always wanted to know what Bootsy Collins singing a Peyton Manning holiday carol would sound like. 

Deadspin's Tom Ley spotted further evidence that if you are patient enough and don't mind clicking around, you will most definitely see everything thanks to the Internet. 

Case in point, here is a video of the famed Parliament-Funkadelic bass guitarist singing a holiday song about Manning's prolific passing. 

We don't know the impetus behind such a creation, nor do we care. 

As we have gleaned from the YouTube description, the song is a creation appearing in Sports Illustrated Kids' December issue. 

Normally, we might hope for a more tangible reason why some funky licks feature alongside lyrics such as, "Peyton Manning's passing your way," but we are just glad we lived long enough to enjoy this tasty morsel. 

Now, we know from a past photo of Manning wearing a helmet while in a cold tub that he doesn't take a great deal of time off. Still, the following line is a little ridiculous: "He sees film while you're sleeping. He studies while you break. He knows when you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake."

I have a backlog of missed memos, so perhaps I was unaware of the moment Manning took over for Santa Claus, because it seems like he is on naughty-list-checking duties. 

Not that we doubt his ability to do anything at this point in his career. It wasn't so long ago that we were all wondering if his head would roll off his neck, and now he is being honored as Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year. 

So really, if there was anyone bound to get a funky holiday anthem dedicated to them, it was going to be Manning.
