B/R's Greg Eno at the Stanley Cup Finals: Red Wings Presser
On injuries: Everyone is ready to go. Pavel Datsyuk is a game-time decision.
On the schedule: โWell, they donโt ask me, but it seems to me that the NHL could have used more time to hype the series.โ
On NBC/Versus commercials for the league: โSometimes I wonder if they know that we won last year!โ
On being at the Finals: โI love seeing how excited the players are.โ
On the Finals themselves: โOne night you win and you feel like a million bucks; the next night you lose and you feel like you got your heart ripped out.โ
On the schedule in the playoffs: โI could have gone bear hunting in the days between some of the games!โ
On whether the Red Wings have an advantage in terms of experience: โI think thatโs out the window because the Penguins were here last year.โ
ย
Nick Lidstrom, Marian Hossa
Hossa
On the Pens: โTheyโll be hungrier than last year. And better prepared. Last year (when he was with Pittsburgh) we were at The Finals but we kind of were wondering what was going on. Before we knew it, we were down 2-0.โ
On signing with Detroit: โIt was a very tough decision but I made it and obviously it was between two teams and theyโre the two best teams in hockey.โ
On the prospects of playing Pittsburgh in the Finals as the playoffs went on: โI started to realize that we could play the Pens in the Finals as I watched their games. Will be very interesting for me (smiles).โ
ย
Lidstrom
On being injured: โIt was very hard watching a playoff game.โ
On what happened: โIt happened during Game Three in Chicago.โ (he wouldnโt say what the injury was)
On young guys like Darren Helm and Jonathan Ericsson: โThe experience the guys got from last yearโs playoffs was key to our success in this yearโs playoffs.โ
On the playoffs: โEven after 17 years, I still get butterflies playing in the playoffs. I still get nervous.โ
On the Finals schedule: โYouโre just excited to be here. I donโt think fatigue will be a factor.โ
On Ericsson: โโJohnnieโ doesnโt look nervous in the playoffs. Heโs just getting better and better.โ
ย
Henrik Zetterberg, Chris Osgood
Zetterberg
On Hossa: โHis skating ability and size are big forces. Heโs been unbelievable.โ
On Sidney Crosby: โHeโs a great player. You have to be on your toes when heโs out there or else heโll hurt you.โ
Osgood
On what heโs learned about this yearโs Red Wings: โThat we can turn it on when we want to.โ
On his season: โI wasnโt mentally ready for the season to start. I guarantee that I wonโt have a regular season like that again.โ
On experience: โWe turned it on against Columbus. We didnโt panic against Anaheim. We ran out of gas at the end of Game Five against Chicago but we found a way to win.โ
On Finals schedule: โItโs fun once the games start, and the crowd is loud. At this time of the year, you really donโt want to practice. You want to play games.โ
On Helm and Ericsson: โI knew they were good. I didnโt know they were that good. They help inspire us older guys to keep up with them.โ
On the Pens, 2009 version: โThey arenโt trying to score pretty goals as much. Last year they played a lot on the perimeter. This year theyโre going to the net and cycling more. And they have guys like [Bill] Guerin, whoโve won the Cup before.โ
