Bears Ink Idonije For 2 More Seasons
May 29th comes with some very large news! Well ok, it's decent news but hey, whatever. Chicago signed Defensive Tackle Israel Idonije to a 2-year contract extension with 7 million dollars in new money involved; 3 million guaranteed.
Per his agent's twitter feed, Drew Rosenhaus, the contract negotiations went very smoothly. He hopes the negotiations for Idonije's teammate, Adewale Ogunleye go just as smoothly at the end of this upcoming season.
The hiring of Rod Marinelli as Defensive Line coach has brought change, especially to Idonije. Idonije has slimmed down to 270 lbs from 306. Idonije is looking to play some at end this season. Marinelli utilizes more lean pass rushers. He will also expand his role on special teams.
