Reggie Bush Interview: Part Deux

Suzette Lampard BrantleyMay 28, 2009

On November 14, 2008 I had the good fortune of sitting in the same room with Saints running back Reggie Bush.  The event was the Ms. Planetbeach International Pageant at the Hardrock Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. Later that evening, during the after party at Rise Nightclub, I would get my chance.

I was standing at the edge on the dance floor when out of the corner of my eye, he appears. Now he is flanked by two pretty stout guys. I guess I’ll have a glass of celebratory champagne with the pageant winner and enjoy the evening.

As I am placing the bottle back on ice, Reggie is close enough to touch. No, I did not touch him that would be rude. However, waiting to ask him a question or two if an opportunity arises, well that is perfectly acceptable.  Carpe Diem!

“Hello, Mr. Bush”

“Hello, but call me Reggie.”

“Well since we are on a first name basis, mine is Suzette, and this is my husband, Keith”

“Nice to meet you Keith”

I then proceeded to general niceties, “How did you like the event?”

“It was nice.”

“So how is the leg doing?”

“It’s going great!” “I am progressing quite well and pleased with how it’s going.”

“Good luck with the rest of the rehab, the offense won’t be the same without you.”

That is exactly the way the events transpired on Nov.14, 2008.  On my next interview, I plan to ask him a wider range of questions.

Now a days are you worried more about a career ending injury, or do you realize that injury is part of the game? Has your conditioning routine changed?

What can we expect out of this season’s Reggie Bush from past seasons? How do you see the offense progressing this year with a healthy Jeremy Shockey, Lance Moore, Marques Colston, along with the emergence of Pierre Thomas?

Are you pleased with the new defensive schemes brought in by Gregg Williams?

During your recent interview with Regis Philbin you were quoted as “Saints in the Superbowl.” Is this still your prediction?”

One last question if you don’t mind.

So just how does it feel to play your home games in the Louisiana Superdome, the very field that most USC fans believe the L.S.U. Tigers snatched the BCS title of 2003?
