First half quick analysis:

Mignolet: Could do nothing about the goal, dealt well with some shoddy back-passes.

Johnson: One of many who have been sloppy in possession.

Flanagan: Not put a foot wrong defensively, but offering nothing beyond the half-way line.

Skrtel: Beaten too easily in the air by Sagbo and Davies. Has covered well chasing down the channels.

Toure: One marvellous tackle during a Hull counter-attack, one horrifying mis-kick which could have been costly.

Lucas: Caught out chasing the ball for the goal and lax in his passing at times. Has also made some good interceptions.

Gerrard: Buried a great free kick, but delivery in open play hasn't been of the same standard.

Henderson: Bustling and energetic, but no great end product. Won the free kick for the goal.

Moses: Continues to try to beat his man, but no success yet.

Sterling: On the fringes, improved near the end of the half.

Suarez: Well off his game in the first half. Trying too much alone. Movement causes problems for Hull, needs better support.

Second half quick analysis:

Mignolet: Made one or two good saves but two deflected strikes beat him. No chance with either.

Johnson: Poor going forward and didn't protect the flank well enough in defence.

Flanagan: Did well enough in possession but struggled at times with Elmohamady on the break in the second half.

Skrtel: Beaten in the air a few times, but also covered well behind Toure and won most challenges on the ground. Possibly an own goal for the winner.

Toure: Not a great return to the team. Poor all round.

Lucas: Never controlled the game, struggled to get the tempo going and lost Livermore for the opener.

Gerrard: Other than the goal, had little impact. Tried to start some quicker moves in attack but the Reds were poor going forward.

Henderson: Good work ethic as ever, but little quality shown on the ball.

Moses: Awful performance, no positive impact and missed a great chance to score at 1-1.

Sterling: Showed flashes of excitement and pace, but too often started running from very deep areas. Little link-up play.

Suarez: Arguably his worst game since signing for the club. Had no support, but tried to do too much alone and never looked like scoring.
