Domenik Hixon Recovers From Traumatic Event To Lead Giants Aerial Attack

Jon GleasonMay 28, 2009

If you look up and down the Giants roster, there are many players who could give you a fascinating interview. Returning star defensive end Osi Umenyiora holds the title of chief in his native Nigerian town of Okbunike and everyone would love to know about his rehab from last year’s serious injury. Backup quarterback David Carr is the former first pick of the entire Texans organization. Behind him on the depth chart, recently drafted Rhett Bomar lit up Division I defenses before an unsanctioned job forced him out of the spotlight in Norman and in to the background at Sam Houston State. Pro Bowl guard Chris Snee is the coach’s son-in-law for crying out loud!

I could go on at lengths about what makes each Giant special in his own right, but one guy that stands out while trying to blend in is starting wide receiver Domenik Hixon. Without his return ability in the 2007 playoffs, the Giants may not have been crowned champions. However, it’s not the ability he has demonstrated in the past two seasons that make him such a coveted interview target, it is the events that transpired shortly before signing with the Giants that exemplify his character.
