Giants vs. Redskins: TV Info, Spread, Injury Updates, Game Time and More

Chris RolingNov 29, 2013

The New York Giants and Washington Redskins meet for the first time in 2013 from FedEx Field in a Sunday Night Football affair.

Week 12 saw Tom Coughlin's Giants lose for the first time in five games via a Dan Bailey field goal against Dallas. Before that, New York had rattled off four straight and now sit at 4-7 with playoff hopes fading.

Washington did not fare much better as Robert Griffin III and the Redskins were handed a 27-6 whooping at the hands of San Francisco on Monday Night Football. The Redskins have now lost three straight, sit at 3-8 and are alone in the cellar of the NFC East.

Can RGIII Bounce Back?

The microscope of NFL attention is seemingly transfixed on RGIII and Washington now that things have taken a turn for the worse.

Granted, RGIII has been playing mediocre ball this year as ESPN illustrates:

Did we expect anything different after the star quarterback seemingly rushed back from a serious knee injury suffered last postseason?

Griffin has now thrown for 2,841 yards, 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this year. His last outing against San Francisco was a miserable effort in which he threw for just 127 yards and an interception. It even prompted 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks to question why RGIII is still on the field:

Questions about Griffin's health and chemistry with head coach Mike Shanahan and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan abound per Sports Illustrated's Chris Burke.

Come Sunday night, RGIII must put all of these factors aside and attempt to recover against a New York defense that ranks in the top half of the league against the pass and in the top 10 against the rush.

RGIII's turnaround or continued struggles will dictate the game.

Prediction

The Giants lost last week, but it's difficult to see it happening again here.

New York held the Cowboys to 107 total rushing yards, while the resurgent Andre Brown went off for 127 on his own. The presence of Brown seemed to keep quarterback Eli Manning comfortable. The turnover-happy Manning failed to throw an interception for the third time all season.

Washington simply doesn't have a Tony Romo (250 yards, two touchdowns against New York) at quarterback or a Dez Bryant (102 yards) at wide receiver. The story all year has been RGIII's ability (or lack thereof) to overcome his defense, which ranks second to last with an average of 30.7 points surrendered per game.

Given the wealth of issues Griffin and the Redskins are currently facing, the Giants will take this one comfortably. Everything seems to be clicking, and the Redskins are reeling.

Final Score: Giants 27, Redskins 14
