Bon Jovi's Publicist Refutes Singer's Reported Pursuit of Bills Ownership

Mike ChiariJun 3, 2018

If Jon Bon Jovi's publicist is to be believed, then those who are hoping for him to buy the Buffalo Bills may be left living on a prayer.

According to the Associated Press (h/t Fox Sports), Bon Jovi's publicist, Ken Sunshine, has disputed reports that Bon Jovi is actively seeking to buy the team.

Sunshine said that while Bon Jovi does want to be an NFL owner at some point, the reports linking him to the Bills are "preposterous" due to his respect for current Bills owner Ralph Wilson.

Bon Jovi's interest in the Bills was initially reported by Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports on Sunday.

According to La Canfora, Bon Jovi has gone to great lengths to familiarize himself with local politicians in an effort to posture himself for the purchase of the team. He also reported that Bon Jovi is well connected within the NFL, and he is aiming to be a primary owner.

Based on Sunshine's quick denial, though, it remains to be seen if La Canfora's report is accurate. It's certainly possible that Sunshine is simply covering for his client since negotiations regarding the sale of professional sports teams are generally kept under wraps.

The Bills' future is very much up in the air due to the fact that the 95-year-old Wilson has never expressed a desire to sell the team during his lifetime.

The Rogers Communications group in Canada is considered the most likely suitor to buy the team when Wilson passes due to the Bills' current deal to play one game in Toronto per season, according to La Canfora.

If Bon Jovi is able to step forward with a huge bid of his own, however, it will be interesting to see how the sale plays out.

It's unlikely that anything will happen with the Bills until Wilson passes away, but the conflicting reports regarding Bon Jovi's interest will definitely be a topic of conversation moving forward.
