FIFA 14 Captures Inaugural No.1 Spot in the Xbox One UK Gaming Chart

FIFA 14 has headed straight for the top of the first ever Xbox One gaming chart in the UK.

EA Sports' footballing simulation, which came bundled with the Day One Edition console, has outrun the likes of Battlefield 4, Forza 5 and Call of Duty: Ghosts to become the best selling next-gen title after the first few days of release.

Of course, there is also a number of other sports games for early adopters of the new consoles to buy, including one other EA effort that has made it into the top 10, as reported by UKIE and via James Orry of VideoGamer.com:

While FIFA 14 was always going to come in at the top, it's bundle alongside the Day One Edition console helped massively. However, EA may be disappointed to see Madden NFL 25 and NBA LIVE 14 failing to challenge FIFA 14.

Sean O'Brien, game producer for EA's long awaited basketball game, recently issued an open letter on the developer's official website. He acknowledged that the game is disappointing and hasn't produced the triumphant return the team was hoping for:

"I’m not going to lie; it’s been a rough week," O'Brien said. "As you can imagine, this isn’t exactly the NBA LIVE comeback story we were hoping for this year."

O'Brien confirms EA is working to make the game better, but the damage is likely done.

2K Sports' NBA 2K14 has easily outsold the returning series and received a Metracritic score of 83 percent, while NBA Live is yet to receive significant coverage, a sign that suggests it doesn't flaunt particular quality.

Will FIFA 14 dominate the UK next-gen charts when Killzone: Shadow Fall and the PlayStation 4 crowd arrive next week? It's one hell of a task, that's for sure.
