Transfer Rumour Rater: Ciprian Marica to Arsenal in the January Window

In an effort to provide Olivier Giroud with some much-needed cover up front, Arsenal are increasing their interest in Getafe forward Ciprian Marica.

The Romanian international has been linked with the Gunners in the past, but according to Danny Griffiths of the Metro, Arsene Wenger's side are now in pole position to land his signature this winter.

Griffiths goes on to say that North Londoners see Marica as a cheaper option, saving the club from having to spend big in boosting their attacking ranks:

"Arsenal want the 28-year-old former Schalke, Stuttgart and Shakhtar Donetsk striker as a cheap alternative to Real Madrid marksman Karim Benzema and Aston Villa attacker Christian Benteke."
