
Americans Abroad Wrap: Aron Johannsson and Mix Diskerud Score
Coming off the international break, Americans playing their football abroad were back in action this weekend, highlighted by goals from Aron Johannsson and Mix Diskerud.
Danny Williams and Fabian Johnson also made their long-awaited returns from injury and there is fresh news on the transfer front of a possible return to the English Premier League for United States men's national team captain Clint Dempsey.

The English Premier League Boys

Geoff Cameron started for Stoke and had another strong game at right-back for the Potters as they beat Sunderland 2-0. Jozy Altidore came off the bench for Sunderland in the 85th minute. Brek Shea made the 18 for Stoke, but did not play. Maurice Edu was not in the game day squad.
Tim Howard and Everton played to a wild 3-3 draw with Liverpool in the Merseyside derby. Howard made two saves in the game.
There was also fresh speculation about which EPL club might take Clint Dempsey on winter loan, as reports this week linked him with Newcastle United. Previous reports had Dempsey headed to Tottenham, Aston Villa, Everton and West Ham.
Brad Guzan and Aston Villa play West Bromwich Albion on Monday.
Ze Germans

Fabian Johnson played 90 minutes on the left wing for Hoffenheim in their 2-0 loss to Augsburg. Michael Parkhurst was not in the squad for Augsburg.
Jermaine Jones started and went the distance for Schalke in their 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Timmy Chandler went the full 90 for FC Nurnberg in their 1-1 draw with Wolfsburg.
Steve Cherundolo made the squad for Hannover for the second straight game in his battle back from successive knee surgeries, but did not play in their 3-1 loss to Hamburg.
John Anthony Brooks was not in the squad for Hertha Berlin's loss to Bayer Leverkusen.
In the English Championship

Danny Williams finally returned from injury and played the second half of Reading's 0-0 draw with Blackburn.
Tim Ream put in another 90-minute effort for Bolton in their 1-0 win over Watford. Stuart Holden is still recovering from knee surgery.
Eric Lichaj played the first half of Nottingham Forest's 1-1 draw with Burnley.
Jonathan Spector is still injured and missed Birmingham's match this weekend.
Duane Holmes didn't make it off the bench in Huddersfield's 2-1 loss to Sheffield Wednesday.
Oguchi Onyewu didn't play for Queens Park Rangers in their 1-0 win over Charlton.
In League Two, Will Packwood played 90 minutes in Bristol Rovers' 1-0 loss to Burton.
Elsewhere in Europe
4 of 5Mix Diskerud scored for Rosenborg in the Norwegian Football Cup final, but they lost 4-2 to Molde. His goal can be seen in the embedded clip on this page. Josh Gatt is still recovering from knee surgery.
Aron Johannsson showed a nice bit of composure in scoring his 15th goal of the season for AZ Alkmaar this weekend in their 2-2 draw with Roda (video here).
Sacha Kljestan and Anderlecht lost 2-1 to Sporting Charleroi. Kljestan went the distance.
Conor O'Brien played 82 minutes in OB's 1-1 draw with Randers.
Terrence Boyd and Rapid Vienna beat Salzburg 2-1 with Boyd playing 87 minutes.
Alejandro Bedoya and Nantes take on Monaco late on Sunday.
Michael Bradley and Roma play Cagliari on Monday.
South of the Border

Jose Torres and Tigres take on America late on Sunday in the Liga MX playoffs.
The American contingents at Tijuana and Puebla did not qualify for the Liguilla.
