Cam Newton Celebrated Win by Eating Waffle House and Donating to Local Schools

Gabe ZaldivarNov 21, 2013

Cam Newton celebrated with style this week, making it rain up in the Waffle House as well as local schools where he reportedly danced, boogied and donated.

The Charlotte Observer's Tom Sorensen reports on the subsequent treat enjoyed by the Panthers quarterback following a 24-20 win over the Tom Brady-led Patriots.

Seeing just how on edge Newton was on the bench in the last-ditch drive by the Patriots, you very well may have guessed Newton escaped into the comfort of a bottle. Instead, he found comfort in the wonderful menu at the Waffle House.

Good luck working those calories off. Lifetime on the hips, Newton.

Sorensen says Newton and his family made their way to the popular diner after the game, and he didn't get to bed until four in the morning.

This reminds us of the time the Miami Heat's Shane Battier decided to celebrate his NBA championship by hitting a Denny's with his family

They say nothing good happens after midnight, unless it's in the comfort of a Denny's or Waffle House, where the comfort food flows like warm maple syrup. (Awesome, now I'm starving.)

Newton apparently woke up the next morning sore, which may have been the football game he played, but it's also how most feel when they wake up after some Waffle House.

Still, Newton managed to get some commendable work in despite feeling a little worse for wear.

The 24-year-old NFL star, coming off a big win, visited students of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School systemCollinswood, Reid Park Academy and Berryhill School (N.C). There he not only danced and hyped the students, but he also donated $25,000 to each school, $75,000 in total.

That's not all, because the report states Newton, in two years, has donated in upwards of $225,000 to six schools.

He wasn't there just to donate but to invigorate. He reportedly danced and spoke with passion, and he also got some of the teachers and school officials to dance along, and the students loved it.

Newton states, "When I was in school I never could tease my teachers." As for his passionate speech, he states, "I wanted people to see me as well. And you know a lot of times when I speak it’s, ‘Oh, Cam’s just a figure,’ or, ‘He’s become untouchable.’ I wanted people to hear my voice."

Newton also added, via WCNC, "If you represent North Carolina, I want myself to be someone that you say, ‘I know that guy,’ and be proud."

On Monday, Newton was far less a mythical superstar but just a regular guy who has the means and will to change the community for the better.

As we know, that's far more powerful.

Now let's just hope Newton has worked off that Waffle House by now.
