Brett Favre Watch: Day 29

RhinoMay 27, 2009

“I kind of hope it happens, so he can fail.” —Fran Tarkenton, on Brett Favre considering a return.

Tarkenton, a Minnesota Vikings great and Hall of Famer, absolutely went off when Favre was mentioned

“I think it’s despicable,” Tarkenton said. “What he put the Packers through last year was not good. Here’s an organization that was loyal to him for 17, 18 years, provided stability of organization, provided players. It just wasn’t about Brett Favre. In this day and time, we have glorified the Brett Favre’s of the world so much, they think it’s about them.”

If Favre does come back, and play for the Vikings, Greatest Pro Bowls of all time, and other stuff thinks that the Green Bay Packers should seriously reconsider retiring ol’ No. 4’s No. 4 in a big, pat-you-on-the-back, tell-you-how-great-you-were, give-you-a-shiny-new-lawn-tractor ceremony at legendary Lambeau Field.

Favre’s possible return would be one of the most selfish, vindictive things an athlete ever did. That’s borderline unforgivable.

Greatest Pro Bowls of all time, and other stuff will likely go off on a tangent on this matter at a later time.
