NFL Power Rankings Week 12: Complete Standings After Monday Night Football
Week 11 of the 2013 NFL regular season has concluded. With just six weeks remaining, every team in the entire league is left wondering how to protect or salvage its current level of success.
The week ended with the Carolina Panthers picking up a controversial 23-20 win over the New England Patriots. It featured two star quarterbacks and two very strong defenses. Ultimately, the home team emerged victorious.
The question is, how do the standings look after Monday Night Football?

32. Jacksonville Jaguars
Record: 1-9
Week 11: 14-27 loss vs. Arizona Cardinals
Week 12: at Houston Texans
The Jacksonville Jaguars are undoubtedly the worst team in the NFL. Every loss has been decided by double digits, and the Jaguars' lone victory is looking like the only one it will earn in 2013.
The only question for Jacksonville is, which player will it take with the No. 1 overall selection at the 2014 NFL draft? Premature but fitting.
Quarterback play continues to be an issue for Jacksonville, with Chad Henne performing well but unable to play star-caliber football. The defense hasn't been terrible, but it's also struggling to put together consistent performances.
Disarray is the only applicable word in Jacksonville.
31. Atlanta Falcons
Record: 2-8
Week 11: 28-41 loss at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Week 12: vs. New Orleans Saints
The Atlanta Falcons have hit a steep decline with injuries to the likes of Steven Jackson, Julio Jones and Roddy White. Matt Ryan has still managed to put forth dominant passing performances, but Atlanta's defense has been as poor as its depleted receiving corps is supposed to be.
Atlanta hit a new low during Week 11.
The Falcons fell 41-28 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and are now 2-8 with six games remaining. It marked Atlanta's fourth consecutive loss, with its past two coming by scores of 34-10 and 33-10, respectively.
A scary thought for the NFL: The Falcons could land Jadeveon Clowney.
30. Houston Texans
Record: 2-8
Week 11: 23-28 loss vs. Oakland Raiders
Week 12: vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Houston Texans have lost eight consecutive games and are now 2-8 overall. Shockingly, five of those losses have come by five points or less.
Houston could be 7-3 as easily as it is 2-8 right now.
The Texans lost 28-23 to the Oakland Raiders during Week 11 after cutting the lead to five points with eight minutes remaining and then failing to score a single point from thereon out. Case Keenum continues to display promise, but Houston can't seem to win.
Houston is currently in line for a top-five draft choice, and that's a terrifying thought considering its been so close to the Super Bowl in recent years.
29. Minnesota Vikings
Record: 2-8
Week 11: 20-41 loss at Seattle Seahawks
Week 12: at Green Bay Packers
The Minnesota Vikings have been a frustrating team to watch during the 2013 NFL regular season. Christian Ponder has displayed flashes of being a reliable quarterback but has battled injuries and inconsistency.
Not even Adrian Peterson has been able to save Minnesota from its 2-8 record.
Jairus Wright caught two touchdown passes during Week 11, but Minnesota still fell 41-20 to the Seattle Seahawks. It was the latest chapter in a disappointing season that one can only hope is setting the Vikings up for a high draft choice that will be used on a quarterback.
Until then, this is a long ride for a team that has superstars in Peterson and Jared Allen who deserve better.
28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Record: 2-8
Week 11: 41-28 win vs. Atlanta Falcons
Week 12: at Detroit Lions
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers started the season by losing eight consecutive games. Since then, the Bucs have responded by winning two straight to reach 2-8 with wins over favored opponents.
The postseason is still six straight wins and a couple of miracles away, but Tampa Bay is showing signs of life.
Mike Glennon was 20-of-23 for 231 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, further displaying the promise that Greg Schiano had been preaching. Bobby Rainey exploded with 30 carries for 163 yards and two touchdowns, and Tampa Bay made a statement.
Regardless of how many games they win, the Buccaneers are going to be a tough opponent for any squad to overcome.
27. Washington Redskins
Record: 3-7
Week 11: 16-24 loss at Philadelphia Eagles
Week 12: vs. San Francisco 49ers
The Washington Redskins have played one of two ways in virtually every single game during the 2013 regular season. Either the Redskins start a game slow and close out hot, or they perform at a high level early and then collapse.
One way or another, the Redskins have found a way to lose en route to a 3-7 record.
Robert Griffin III has been producing at elite levels, but his accuracy has wavered throughout the season. That was evident against the Philadelphia Eagles when Washington lost a 24-16 game that saw RG3 miss a series of throws that he converted in 2012.
Washington will now host the San Francisco 49ers in a Week 12 game that could determine whether or not it remains in the hunt for the postseason.
26. San Diego Chargers
Record: 4-6
Week 11: 16-20 loss at Miami Dolphins
Week 12: at Kansas City Chiefs
The San Diego Chargers are only one game out of the No. 6 seed in the AFC playoffs. Unfortunately, the Chargers are also 4-6 and have lost three consecutive games after starting at 4-3.
San Diego can turn things around with just one win, but victories are becoming increasingly more difficult to come by.
During the Chargers' three-game losing streak, they've lost by no more than eight points. In Week 11, San Diego fell 20-16 to the Miami Dolphins, and their woes continued.
Philip Rivers is playing at an MVP-caliber level with 2,989 passing yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions on a completion percentage of 71.0, but it still hasn't been enough.
25. Tennessee Titans
Record: 4-6
Week 11: 27-30 loss vs. Indianapolis Colts
Week 12: at Oakland Raiders
The Tennessee Titans were looking like an AFC South contender when Jake Locker was healthy at quarterback. Unfortunately, the Titans are now without Locker, and their ability to close out games has suffered because of his absence.
That trend will continue as the season progresses.
Tennessee has a very good defense that plays physically and thrives against the pass. It also has a star running back in Chris Johnson and an incredibly underrated young wide receiver in speedster Kendall Wright.
Until it can put a quarterback under center for a full 16 games, however, Tennessee will never get over the hump.
24. Cleveland Browns
Record: 4-6
Week 11: 20-41 loss at Cincinnati Bengals
Week 12: vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Cleveland Browns were once 3-2 with the opportunity to make a push for the postseason. Since then, the Browns have lost four of their past five games, and the one-game deficit between Cleveland and the playoffs seems to be larger than it is.
A 41-20 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals during Week 11 is a major reason why.
Jason Campbell has been very strong for the Browns, but this is a team that has a number of holes throughout the roster. The rushing attack relies heavily on big plays and can't seem to put together consistently productive carries, and the Browns are paying the price because of it.
Cleveland will face the Pittsburgh Steelers during Week 12.
23. Oakland Raiders
Record: 4-6
Week 11: 28-23 win at Houston Texans
Week 12: vs. Tennessee Titans
The Oakland Raiders defeated the Houston Texans by a score of 28-23 to move to 4-6. It was another example of Oakland's developing balance, and it was a chance for Matt McGloin to shine in Terrelle Pryor's absence.
Between that and yet another spectacular performance by Rashad Jennings, Oakland is displaying promise.
During his past three games, Jennings has rushed for 340 yards and two touchdowns. McGloin was 18-of-32 for 197 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions to lead the offensive charge.
The postseason is still within reach, and Oakland's home game against Tennessee during Week 12 is promising.
22. St. Louis Rams
Record: 4-6
Week 11: Bye
Week 12: vs. Chicago Bears
One week after blowing out the Indianapolis Colts 38-8, the St. Louis Rams were on bye. It was a welcome time for a team that has questions at quarterback and needs rest to get its strong defense in the proper place.
The Rams will play the Chicago Bears during Week 12.
21. Buffalo Bills
Record: 4-7
Week 11: 37-14 win vs. New York Jets
Week 12: Bye
The Buffalo Bills are an entirely different team with EJ Manuel under center, and that was clear in Week 11. Manuel led the Bills past the New York Jets with a thunderous 37-14 victory to move to 4-7 on the season.
Buffalo is now 1.5 games back in the hunt for the final wild-card spot in the AFC.
Manuel was 20-of-28 for 245 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions against the Jets, leading the passing attack with precision and maturity. Furthermore, Marquise Goodwin had the best game of his young career, and Kiko Alonso continued to run away with the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
The future is bright in Buffalo.
20. Baltimore Ravens
Record: 4-6
Week 11: 20-23 OT loss at Chicago Bears
Week 12: vs. New York Jets
Since Week 4, every single game that the Baltimore Ravens have played has been decided by six points or less. Unfortunately, the Ravens have gone 2-5 during that period of time, and there isn't much reason to be encouraged.
Fortunately, if Baltimore defeats the New York Jets during Week 12 and the Miami Dolphins lose, the Ravens will be in line for the final spot in the AFC playoffs.
Ray Rice topped 100 yards for the first time during Week 11, picking up 131 yards and a touchdown against the Chicago Bears. Unfortunately, Joe Flacco has 13 touchdowns to 13 interceptions and a completion percentage below 60.0 for the third straight season.
Baltimore doesn't have much firepower on offense, and that's been a crippling blow to its postseason hopes. It can salvage the season in Week 12.
19. Miami Dolphins
Record: 5-5
Week 11: 20-16 win vs. San Diego Chargers
Week 12: vs. Carolina Panthers
The Miami Dolphins opened the season with three straight wins and have since gone 2-5. Miami earned a rebound victory by defeating the San Diego Chargers 20-16 and is now in position to control its own destiny to reach the postseason.
It won't be easy, but Miami can make a statement during Week 12 against the Carolina Panthers.
Ryan Tannehill has displayed flashes of being a star quarterback, but his consistency hasn't been present. Unfortunately, Lamar Miller has run for a grand total of 19 yards since topping 100 in Week 9.
Miami is a puzzling team, and this game was a primary example of its boom-or-bust nature.
18. New York Jets
Record: 5-5
Week 11: 14-37 loss at Buffalo Bills
Week 12: at Baltimore Ravens
The New York Jets are currently 5-5 and in possession of the No. 6 seed in the AFC playoffs. The Jets are also coming off a 37-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills and haven't yet won two consecutive games during the 2013 regular season.
At this rate, New York will finish at 8-8. That might be enough for a postseason berth.
The Jets currently rank No. 1 in rushing yards per game and No. 8 in rushing offense. Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell have taken turns dominating on the ground, and New York could strike at any moment.
Rex Ryan and the Jets are in control of their own destiny.
17. Pittsburgh Steelers
Record: 4-6
Week 11: 37-27 win vs. Detroit Lions
Week 12: at Cleveland Browns
The Pittsburgh Steelers have stormed back from an 0-4 start to move to 4-6 on the year. The offensive line and the running game are healthier, and thus, the Steelers have become a more powerful squad.
In Week 11, Pittsburgh defeated the Detroit Lions 37-27 and effectively moved into the hunt for the postseason.
The Steelers are currently one game back in the hunt for the final wild-card spot in the AFC. Le'Veon Bell has become a red-zone threat, and Heath Miller has been dangerous since returning to full health, and that's opened up the offense.
Don't be shocked to see Pittsburgh in the playoffs.
16. Green Bay Packers
Record: 5-5
Week 11: 13-27 loss at New York Giants
Week 12: vs. Minnesota Vikings
With Aaron Rodgers under center, the Green Bay Packers are a top-10 team in the NFL and a genuine Super Bowl contender. Without Rodgers, the Packers are a bottom-half team that has little to be encouraged by.
In Week 11, that was placed on display.
Green Bay fell 27-13 to the New York Giants with no passing touchdowns and three interceptions. Jordy Nelson and Jarrett Boykin torched the Giants defense, but the Packers have no upside without Rodgers at quarterback.
Fortunately, Rodgers could return during Week 12. If he does, this ranking improves by about 10 spots.
15. New York Giants
Record: 4-6
Week 11: 27-13 win vs. Green Bay Packers
Week 12: vs. Dallas Cowboys
The New York Giants now have a six-game losing streak and a four-game winning streak to reach 4-6. The Giants are in the midst of the latter stretch, and during Week 12, New York could end up in a position of power in the NFC East.
Who saw that coming?
Eli Manning has 12 touchdowns to 17 interceptions, but the Giants are still finding ways to win games. The schedule hasn't been too difficult during New York's winning streak, but that doesn't take away from how hot this team is known to get.
New York needs some help in the standings, but it's as hot as any team in football.
14. Dallas Cowboys
Record: 5-5
Week 11: Bye
Week 12: at New York Giants
The Dallas Cowboys were on a bye during Week 11, which is the best thing that could've happened to Jason Garrett's club. The Cowboys have been battling injuries and sideline distractions throughout the season, and they're fresh off of a full week to prepare for a meeting with the Giants.
If the Cowboys are ever going to get over the hump and get back into the postseason, it needs to win in Week 12.
13. Chicago Bears
Record: 6-4
Week 11: 23-20 OT win vs. Baltimore Ravens
Week 12: at St. Louis Rams
The Chicago Bears moved to 6-4 during Week 11 with a huge overtime victory over the Ravens. Josh McCown had yet another strong performance in relief of Jay Cutler, while Matt Forte added 125 yards of total offense and a score.
Chicago will look to continue building upon that success during Week 12 against the Rams.
Forte has been pacing the offense throughout the season, and the development of wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has been vital to team success. Teams are having a difficult time double-teaming Brandon Marshall with Jeffery serving as a consistently explosive option.
Chicago still has questions to answer, but there shouldn't be any doubt about the validity of this team.
12. Arizona Cardinals
Record: 6-4
Week 11: 27-14 win at Jacksonville Jaguars
Week 12: vs. Indianapolis Colts
The Arizona Cardinals are the single most underrated team in the NFL. Bruce Arians' team has quietly moved to 6-4 and has now won three consecutive games entering a Week 12 meeting with the Indianapolis Colts.
Quietly, Arizona is tied with the San Francisco 49ers for No. 2 in the NFC West.
Carson Palmer put up 419 passing yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions during Week 11 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It was a display of the air attack coming together with both Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald making plays.
Don't sleep on this team anymore.
11. Philadelphia Eagles
Record: 6-5
Week 11: 24-16 win vs. Washington Redskins
Week 12: Bye
The Philadelphia Eagles have been searching for an answer at quarterback since the beginning of the season. Over the past few weeks, Nick Foles has left no question about who should be under center for the Eagles.
In turn, the Eagles have won three in a row and five of seven.
Foles was 17-of-26 for 298 yards as the Eagles defeated the Redskins 24-16 during Week 11. LeSean McCoy continued his MVP-caliber season with 150 yards and two total touchdowns, and the defense played at a superb level.
Philadelphia is now in control of the NFC East.
10. Detroit Lions
Record: 6-4
Week 11: 27-37 loss at Pittsburgh Steelers
Week 12: vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Detroit Lions have built a reputation as one of the true forces in the NFC. Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson take over every game, Reggie Bush and Joique Bell are playing marvelously on the ground, and the run defense has been smothering.
Unfortunately, that didn't matter during Week 11.
The Lions fell 37-27 to the Steelers and dropped to 6-4 on the season. Detroit is now tied with the Chicago Bears atop the NFC South but swept the season series and thus owns the tiebreak.
With a Week 12 meeting against the surging Buccaneers, Detroit can't afford to take a week off.
Johnson has already topped 1,000 receiving yards through 10 games, catching 59 passes for 1,083 yards and 11 touchdowns. Bush, meanwhile, has more than 1,000 yards of total offense and continues to be the game-changer that Detroit has lacked in recent seasons.
Assuming it can stay healthy, the Lions will be a tough out in the playoffs.
9. San Francisco 49ers
Record: 6-4
Week 11: 20-23 loss at New Orleans Saints
Week 12: at Washington Redskins
The San Francisco 49ers lost a controversial 23-20 game to the New Orleans Saints during Week 11. It marked the Niners' second consecutive one-possession defeat and dropped to 6-4 for the year.
The defense is dominant, and the rushing attack is elite, but San Francisco has legitimate issues at quarterback.
Colin Kaepernick has been given a pass in terms of criticism, but he's thrown for fewer than 200 yards in eight of 10 games this season. He has just one game with three touchdowns, four with no scores and six with one or less.
Until he can actually carry this offense, the Niners are not a Super Bowl contender.
The 49ers will hit the road to play the Washington Redskins during Week 12 of the regular season. It'll be a game that could potentially define San Francisco's season, as the postseason is becoming less of a guarantee with every passing week.
The Super Bowl hangover appears to be real.
8. Cincinnati Bengals
Record: 7-4
Week 11: 41-20 win vs. Cleveland Browns
Week 12: Bye
The Cincinnati Bengals enter its Week 12 bye with conflicting forms of momentum. On one hand, the Bengals are coming off a 41-20 win over the Browns, but on the other, they lost their top two defensive players in Leon Hall and Geno Atkins.
The race for the division is getting tighter, and Cincinnati's bye is much-needed.
Andy Dalton has cooled down from his hot start and now has five touchdowns to six interceptions during his past three games. This comes after Dalton posted 11 touchdowns to two interceptions during the three games before that stretch.
Dalton and the Bengals need to find answers during their bye.
Defensively, Cincinnati has managed to play well without its top two players. Vontaze Burfict is emerging as an elite interior linebacker, and the pass rush is doing enough to force errant throws and rushed plays.
As long as the defense can stay afloat, the Bengals will make their way into the playoffs.
7. New England Patriots
Record: 7-3
Week 11: 20-24 loss at Carolina Panthers
Week 12: vs. Denver Broncos
The New England Patriots lost a controversial 24-20 road game to the Carolina Panthers during Week 11. The ending featured a questionable no-call on an apparent pass interference, but the Patriots would've needed to a score a last-second touchdown to win.
Regardless of how it ended, New England now enters a Week 12 showdown with the Denver Broncos at 7-3 in a crowded AFC.
Stevan Ridley ran for his seventh touchdown of the year, and Tom Brady continues to make his nameless receiving corps look good. Unfortunately, there's an undeniable sense of uncertainty when the Patriots take the field.
Between injuries on defense and the unreliability of New England's wide receivers, there's only so much faith that can be placed in Bill Belichick's crew.
The Patriots shouldn't have trouble winning the AFC East, but that's not the entire story. New England's manageable schedule creates the potential for a 12-win season, but a loss to Denver would be a setback as New England competes with Cincinnati and Indianapolis for a first-round bye.
It's tough to bet against Brady, but the supporting cast is still prone to costly mistakes.
6. Carolina Panthers
Record: 7-3
Week 11: 24-20 win vs. New England Patriots
Week 12: at Miami Dolphins
The Carolina Panthers opened the season poorly and closed out slow in each of Ron Rivera's first two years as head coach. In 2013, the Panthers have responded to a 1-3 start by winning six consecutive games to reach 7-3.
In Week 11, the Panthers earned their most significant win yet.
The Panthers defeated the Patriots 24-20 behind a magnificent performance by quarterback Cam Newton. Newton was 19-of-28 for 209 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions and 62 rushing yards on seven carries.
With a balanced rushing attack, a dominant defense and a star quarterback, the Patriots are a legitimate force.
Carolina has now earned back-to-back victories over the Patriots and 49ers. If that doesn't convince you of this team's legitimacy, then it's going to be difficult for any team to live up to your expectations.
Carolina is the real deal.
5. Indianapolis Colts
Record: 7-3
Week 11: 30-27 win at Tennessee Titans
Week 12: at Arizona Cardinals
For the second consecutive week, the Indianapolis Colts started a game with an absolutely dreadful effort. Unlike Week 10, when the Colts lost 38-8 to the Rams, Indianapolis bounced back and managed to earn a 30-27 win over the Tennessee Titans.
Andrew Luck's legend continues to grow.
In just his second year in the league, Luck has developed into the best fourth-quarter quarterback in the NFL. No lead seems to be safe during the final 15 minutes, but the Colts do have a weakness that can't go unnoticed.
Without Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis' offense hasn't looked good.
The defense is powerful, and the offense will still put up points, but Wayne is the veteran leader on this offense. Most importantly, he's the safe receiver for Luck, serving as a reliable option in the red zone and once the pocket collapses.
The Colts are still a postseason-caliber team, but Indianapolis' Super Bowl dreams may have been lost when Wayne went down.
4. Kansas City Chiefs
Record: 9-1
Week 11: 17-27 loss at Denver Broncos
Week 12: vs. San Diego Chargers
The world loves to overreact, and that's exactly what's happening with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs went on the road and lost 27-17 to the Denver Broncos, and the NFL community is now acting fast to label Kansas City a pretender.
Apparently one loss means more than nine straight wins.
Kansas City's offense has some questions to answer, but it still has the best pass rush in the NFL. Furthermore, its secondary and linebacking corps are as strong as any other team in the NFL, and defense still wins championships.
As for those who are going overboard with criticizing the Chiefs for losing, take note that Denver hasn't lost a regular-season home game since Sept. 23, 2012.
Alex Smith had two passing touchdowns, and Jamaal Charles is an elite running back. That's something to build on. Teams rarely perform even close to well at Mile High Stadium, and if Dwayne Bowe can stay on the field, the Chiefs will learn from this loss.
Keep in mind, Kansas City is coached by Andy Reid, who has five conference championship game appearances.
3. New Orleans Saints
Record: 8-2
Week 11: 23-20 win vs. San Francisco 49ers
Week 12: at Atlanta Falcons
The New Orleans Saints moved to 8-2 with a very impressive 23-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers. The ending was controversial, but the Saints earned the victory and are now 8-2 with a very difficult stretch of games ahead.
New Orleans is 6-0 at home, but it plays four of its final six games on the road.
Drew Brees was dominant as always, going 30-of-43 for 305 yards, one touchdown and an interception. Unlikely standouts Jed Collins and Josh Smith scored touchdowns, and Garrett Hartley responded to criticism by going 3-of-3 on field goals.
That includes the game-winner that temporarily called off the search for a replacement kicker.
Defensively, Corey White had an interception, and the pass rush accumulated three sacks. It was the eighth time in 10 games that the Saints held an opponent to 20 points or less.
The Saints have proven to be a legitimate force at home, but New Orleans will have to win on the road to build momentum for a long postseason push.
2. Seattle Seahawks
Record: 10-1
Week 11: 41-20 win vs. Minnesota Vikings
Week 12: Bye
The Seattle Seahawks have unofficially clinched a playoff berth by winning its 10th game in a top-heavy NFC. Seattle also returned wide receiver Percy Harvin, who was an MVP front-runner before he suffered an injury in 2012, and owns a 3.5-game lead in the NFC West.
Is there any question about which team is the best in the NFC?
The Seahawks dominated the Minnesota Vikings for a 41-20 victory during Week 11. Russell Wilson was methodical, going 13-of-18 for 230 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, and Marshawn Lynch accounted for three total scores.
Harvin had just one catch in his return, but it was a 17-yard gain.
Defensively, the Seahawks came up with three interceptions, including a 29-yard return for a touchdown by Walter Thurmond. Cliff Avril and Bobby Wagner both had sacks, with the latter coming up with an interception, and Clinton McDonald added a pick and a fumble recovery.
Seattle is as balanced as they come, and it may not need to play a single game on the road during the NFC playoffs. That's bad news for the rest of the conference.
1. Denver Broncos
Record: 9-1
Week 11: 27-17 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Week 12: at New England Patriots
The worst-case scenario for the rest of the NFL would be the Denver Broncos securing home-field advantage in the playoffs. For perspective, the previously undefeated Chiefs were the first team to lose a game by fewer than 16 points at Mile High Stadium.
Good luck in the playoffs, AFC.
Despite playing on heavily wrapped ankles, Peyton Manning finished with 323 passing yards and a touchdown against the Chiefs during Week 12. Knowshon Moreno continued his rebound season with 78 rushing yards, and Montee Ball ran for two scores.
Even up against one of the best defenses in the NFL, Denver's offense was strong.
Defensively, Shaun Phillips led the charge with 1.5 sacks, and Quentin Jammer came up with a fumble recovery. Derek Wolfe and Malik Jackson also sacked the quarterback, and Denver moved to 9-1 after 11 weeks of football.
In case you weren't sure before, Denver is the best team in the NFL.
