New Orleans Saints wide receiver Robert Meachem has made strides toward being relevant fantasy-wise in 2013, and he's posted one of his best performances yet in Week 11.
On Sunday against the 49ers, Meachem caught the only two passes he received and turned them into big gainers, amassing 78 yards receiving.
After a somewhat average first-half passing performance for Drew Brees and the New Orleans offense, the Saints turned it up late in the game. Meachem was the second-leading receiver on the day behind Marques Colston.
However, he left after being crunched on his last catch according to NOLA.com's Larry Holder.
This was just the fifth game in which Meachem has been thrown to, but he's done well when given opportunities. On Sept. 22, he notched 34 yards and a touchdown and had his most effective game in Week 9 against the Jets—four catches for 93 yards (including a 60-yarder).
However, it's best to take a wait-and-see approach to Meachem. He's not even a factor in most fantasy circles at the moment, as he's only owned in less than 1 percent of ESPN leagues. Plus, he left the game with an injury that will need to be monitored.
Should Meachem's role grow, however, he may be a solid waiver addition for your bench as the fantasy playoff stretch begins.
