Raiders vs. Texans: Biggest Takeaways for Each Team in Oakland's Stunning Win
The Houston Texans will struggle to find the motivation to finish the 2013 NFL regular season through the line after losing to the Oakland Raiders by the score of 28-23.
Who can blame them? Football would mean less to any team that loses to a Raiders squad that was led by an undrafted rookie quarterback.
Here are the most notable takeaways from Sunday’s action.

3. Houston’s Coaching Is Atrocious
If you don’t know, now you know. Houston passed the ball 49 times against the Raiders and attempted only 21 runs. That disparity existed despite the fact that Texans halfback Ben Tate ran the rock at an efficient 4.6 yards per carry.
Not only did the coaching staff’s play-calling reek, but so did its decision to bench Case Keenum for Matt Schaub.
2. Matt Schaub Is Atrocious
This isn’t breaking news, either. Keenum had an extremely competent 8-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio before being benched at halftime for Schaub (and his 8-9 ratio).
Schaub could only complete 48.0 percent of his passes against an Oakland pass defense that entered the week ranked No. 22 in the league. You’re not a Schaub fan? Join the party—neither is Andre Johnson.
1. Terrelle Pryor Has Competition
Ian Rapoport and Michael Silver of NFL.com reported Sunday morning that not everyone in the Raiders organization views Pryor as the team's franchise quarterback. His injury left the label up for grabs, and Matt McGloin certainly made a strong first impression Sunday afternoon (second if you count Week 9's game against the Philadelphia Eagles).
He completed 18 of 32 pass attempts for 197 yards. That stat line isn’t impressive until clarified that three of those 18 completions went for touchdowns. McGloin had help—Rashad Jennings rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown—but he still led the Raiders to just their fourth victory, putting himself in the franchise quarterback conversation in the process.
