Woman Swaps Wedding Ring for Football Tickets for Chiefs-Loving Husband
A wedding ring is a special treasure that symbolizes the eternal love shared between two people. Or it can be a nifty way to procure NFL tickets in a pinch.
The Denver Post's Joan Niesen (h/t For The Win) spotted a Craigslist ad of a woman trying to swap tickets to a Week 13 game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos for her wedding ring.
Unfortunately, that Craigslist ad has since been deleted, but Niesen did get in touch with the anonymous woman who wanted to get her husband tickets to the game so badly that she was willing to hawk a special piece of her jewelry collection.

Here is what Niesen found out via an email procured from the wedding ring seller she refers to as "Wedding Ring Lady."
"About a month ago, WRL, who lives in suburban Kansas City, started to look for tickets to the Dec. 1 Broncos-Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium. Her husband’s 40th birthday was coming up, and she thought that tickets would be a great present. The game was sold out, so she turned to Craigslist, where she found a pair of tickets for $500. That was in her budget, apparently, and she went for it. Problem was, she never heard back. A week later, the seller said he’d sold the tickets to someone else, and WRL was back to square one.
"
According to the report, tickets to the Dec. 1 clash between the currently 9-0 Chiefs and 8-1 Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium were selling for $400 each, more than the out-of-luck lady could afford, so she decided to trade her wedding ring.
Though the post has been deleted, a picture of the ring lives on in the initial report as well as in this tweet from KUSA executive producer Josh Hubbard.
The most important fact in all of this is that the wedding ring wasn't given to her by her current husband. Rather, it's a relic of a past marriage.
So you can forget all about the thought that someone would throw away a priceless token of affection for mere tickets, because this is more selling off an expensive sign of relationship futility.
And this story has a fine ending, because some lucky duck in the Kansas City area is getting a great 40th birthday gift.
Niesen updated her story recently and states the anonymous wedding ring seller made a swap and procured the tickets she wanted. As a bonus, she was also given tickets to the Chiefs' Week 12 game versus the Chargers.
If that weren't enough, the man who now has the ring is going to use it to pop the big question to his girlfriend.
