Michael Vick Haters: Get Over It

D JMay 26, 2009

As we all know Michael Vick has spent the last two plus years of his life in federal prison.

He did this for a crime that was terrible and deserved a reputable punishment, which he received.

Now I may be perceived as cruel or black hearted for saying this, but the people who are even contemplating furthering Vick’s punishment—just shut up and get over it.

Michael Vick didn’t kill anyone.

Yes, he killed dogs and treated them cruelly in a way to financially benefit him, but don’t for once ever try and compare the life of a human being to the life of a dog.

I can understand that people can become very close to their animals and believe they are to be treated with just as much respect as a human. This may be true in some cases, but stop trying to make Vick look like the most terrible and cruel person in the world.

Michael Vick committed a crime and paid for that crime in the form of his freedom for nearly more than two years.

There is no way that crime warrants a further punishment.

He has paid his dues, he has no job and currently is bankrupt—not to mention his name will be forever tainted—but don’t for once second label Vick's crime as “unforgivable.”

No way can you forgive someone convicted of homicide, rape or even other illegal activities to obtain money and not Michael Vick.

So if you are thinking that what Michael Vick did is so terrible that it should ruin the rest of his life—then you should really take a look in the mirror and check your pulse to see if you are in good enough shape to drive yourself to the insane asylum.

Vick committed a crime, apologized and paid for what he did.

For once, can we please give a professional athlete who actually made a mistake a break already.

He is not a danger to society and definitely will not commit any more crimes.

All of you members of P.E.T.A out there, look past the already large amount of problems your brain has with it and stop trying to ruin what little chance Vick has at regaining his old life back.
